For my son's 1st birthday, we decided on the "Rubber Ducky" theme. For the invites, I took a pic of my son in the tub with soapy hair and lil duckys all around him and then added
"Rubber Ducky, Chase is ONE!" & "Come make his party lots of fun!" and then date, time, ect. But I used "Place: Chase's Tub" & then our address. I
included a poem : "I want to be a bright child, as smart as I can be. That's why I'm so happy my Mommy reads to me. If you're gonna buy a card, please take another look. I'd rather learn
my ABC's from a storybook! Please write your name & include a little note. This way I'll know you've done your part. Someday I'll surely thank you from the bottom of my little heart"
since I've always thought cards were pointless anyway! I made a 3-D cake with a pan from Wilton for Chase to dig into all by himself. And a white-iced sheet cake that I cut a lil bit of the
center out and filled with blue jello. And put 3 lil ducky on top to look like the a tub w/ducks!
I used an inflatable baby tub shaped like a duck to fill with ice and the refreshments. (Cans of soda for the adults and juice boxes for the kids)~ I had a ton of blue, yellow, and clear balloons everywhere. And cut out 12 little ducks out of construction paper and glued a snapshot of my son from each month of his first year! Of course a BIG 12 month pic in the center. I cut out little ducky feet and had them leading from the road up the driveway and into the house. With lil "duck crossing" signs to lead the way! I made yellow rice crispies and sugar cookies which I cut out with a duck-shaped cookie cutter & then iced them! I cut out the words "Happy Birthday Chase" from foam cardstock and tied it together with ribbon and hung! I cut out a HUGE Rubber Ducky shape out of construction paper and added a bill and googley eyes. I had everyone that attended the party write a lil note to him on his very 1st birthday! I bought lil rubber ducky keychains, bubble necklaces and other lil trinckets and put them in Rubber Ducky cellaphane bags for the kids! I know there's more but I'm such a freak for details there's NO way I could remember it all!
