Rubber Ducky Theme -- For my daughter's 2nd birthday, we had a rubber ducky theme party.
Thanks to many great ideas from this site (along with a few of my own), the part was a huge success!! My invitation: Yellow paper with duck print paper glued to it w/ wording on white paper attached with a ribbion which said "Splish, Splash, we're having a bash... Rubber Ducky and all his friends will be there and you're invited, too!! Please come and help us celebrate Madeline's 2nd birthday. Date and Time listed. So waddle on over to the Plamann (last name) pond at \*\*\* (address). Give us a quack at \*\*\*\* (phone number) to let us know if you'll be able to attend. Games: We had a ducky pinata (pull-string) and a "pick-a-duck" pond set up. These games were perfect for the short attention span of 2-year olds!! Food: We had a cook-out theme for our food w/ a few "ducky" touches like a punch bowl of blue kool-aid w/ ducks floating in it, finger jello in the shape of ducks and a chex mix on the tables in small buckets labeled "duck feed". I did cupcakes with ducks on them (Wilton brand candies) instead of cake. I also got cheap drink bottles from the dollar store and personalized them with each child's name -- this helped to prevent all of those blue kool-aid spills!! Prizes: I ordered the rubber ducky theme prizes boxes from Birthday Express (along with my plates, cups, napkins, etc) and filled them with candy, a rubber ducky, a duck bottle of bottles, duck squirt guns and duck/beach theme stickers and tattoos. In addition, I burned a music CD for each child of Seasame Streets 'Splish Splash' and made cute labels for each CD thanking them form coming to Madeline's party. I really tried to do a lot of extras to make Madeline's party memorable. Based on guest feedback, I think I achieved. I'm already planning for next year!!
