For my daughter's first birthday, we're having a Rubber Ducky party. I bought the paper goods online from Birthday Express, and will be making the 3-D rubber ducky cake with the Wilton cake pan.  I'm making a second cake out of a large oval pan, then frosting it white, and cutting out some space in the middle to make it look like a bathtub. I'll place the ducky cake in the bathtub cake, and surround it with blue jello to look like water.  I've also made cupcakes, half of which I've frosted yellow and half light blue, with candy duckies on top of each.  As it is a summer party, we'll probably grill burgers, chicken, etc. We'll also have some typical "kid food" (quack--er, I mean mac & cheese, etc.), along with ducky-shaped sandwiches and ducky-shaped cheese slices (I'll use a duck-shaped cookie cutter).  We'll also serve blue punch with rubber duckies floating on top. For the older kids, I bought a make-your-own-ducky-totebag craft kit from Oriental Trading Company.  We also have the duck pinata from Birthday Express.  I'm making a pin-the-bill-on-the-duck game from computer clip art, and our other planned activity will be a duck hunt:  I bought five dozen tiny rubber ducky squirters (again, from Oriental Trading Company, a great source of cheap party stuff) which I'll hide around the  yard (with a special area of the yard reserved for the youngest kids to hunt).  I decorated bright yellow gift bags for each child using a rubber ducky stamp and an orange stamp pad.  The kids will fill their bags with the duckies they find--the duckies will be theirs to keep, and the child who finds the most will win the hunt and get first pick at prizes (though there will be prizes for everyone, in the hope of avoiding any broken-hearted party guests!)  The kids will use these same bags to scoop up their pinata loot.  It should be a warm day, so we'll fill the kiddie pool (complete with duckies, of course!) and spend much of the afternoon outside. I bought small, brightly-colored drawstring bags for the goodie bags, and on each one I wrote the child's name with a fabric marker, then also stamped them with the ducky stamp. The goodie bag prizes include beach balls, tiny beach-dressed teddy bears wearing duck-shaped pool floats, sponge ducks (sturdier plastic ones for the youngest guests), and Wilton's ducky-printed cellophane bags filled with bright orange candy slices. My husband thinks I've lost it, but my older (4-year-old) daughter and I are having a blast planning her little sister's ducky bash!
