For my son's first birthday we chose the Rubber Ducky theme. Luckily we were able to order many items online such as the plates and napkins. We chose to send the free e-vite as we liked the cool sounds and movement!  For decorating outside I bought a large silver barrel, filled with water, bubbles and a large duck (bought at LNT) with themed balloons attached. On the sidewalks leading to the house were cut out orange paper duck "prints" leading up into the house.  I made a banner with orange foam by cutting out the duck "prints" with one for each letter and just tied together with string.  We made the 3-D Wilton cake as my son's personal cake (since it is small) and the guests each got a cupcake with a rubber ducky and "bubbled" frosting.  For the adults, I made a sheet cake decorated like the online store's invites, plates, etc....a black and white checkered floor, green border and purple sides.  I made the colored chocolate ducks for the sides like the decor from the Wilton molds and simply pushed them into the icing - it looked exactly like the plates and napkins! On the top was a bathtub (soap dish shaped as a tub) filled with bubbled frosting and a large rubber duck.  To keep the theme we listened to Ernie's bathtime CD and played pop the bubbles (large sheet of bubble wrap for stomping on) and blew bubbles around the room.  In another silver tin we placed inside, I put water and floating ducks with a net so the kids could "fish" them out.  We also did a duck pull string pinata with colored balls inside. I made party hats for each child - consisting of orange foam (cut into a visor) with velcro attached for adjustments, a yellow felt half circle glued on the back to stick out the top with three yellow feathers and large google eyes to look like a duck.  Amazingly, most children wore them!!!  Other food items included were blue pond punch with floating ducks, multicolored goldfish, etc. Party favors included the colored balls, the hats, "washable" jumbo crayons, a duck beanie, a duck sticker sheet, and bath bubble confetti in the shapes of ducks and bubbles.  I also bought a duck bib and had it embroidered with "B-Day Boy!" for my son to wear for the party.  Prior to the party I had photos made for thank you notes since my son can't write yet - my son sitting in one of the large silver bins with a soap bar, the large duck, etc...so it looked like he was having a bath with a small sign next to it saying "THANK YOU!"  This way, I had them ready to go out the door right away after the party and no one was forgotten!
