I did a rubber ducky theme for my daughter's 1st birthday. I hand-made her birthday invitations. I used a sapphire cardstock from Michaels's. I copied a bathtub pattern that I had and shrunk to fit the cardstock. Then I took a little rubber duck pattern that I had and traced in onto yellow foam. I then cut those out and glued it onto the sapphire cardstock and just put a little bit of the ducks bottom behind the tub to make it look like the duck was taking a bath. Then I glued bubbles all around ( I punched these out of white and light blue card stock.) The Heading that I used was "Rubber Ducky Your the 1..." on the front of the invitation. On the inside I continued "that will make Jocelyn's Party lots of Fun!" I continued with So waddle on over and help us celebrate Jocelyn's first birthday on March 1, 2003 from 2-5pm. To the First Baptist Church of Macedon's Pond. I gave the address. For the RSVP I wrote "Your presence would be just Ducky! and gave the RSVP info. Then I traced several ducks onto light yellow cardstock and wrote Happy 1st Birthday Jocelyn on them and hung them all over the place. For the cake table and gift table I bought a cheap blue paper table cloth and sponged painted little yellow rubber duckies all over them. Also for the gift table I used a glass punch bowl filled it with water and then put blue food coloring in it to make it look like a pond. Then I put several rubber duckies that I ordered from pricehot.com into the bowl. I did this to give the table a little extra attention. For the guest tables I did a centerpiece of blue beach buckets with shovels and filled them with chex party mix. Then I labeled them "duck feed" and put the remaining rubber duckies around the bucket. I also attached 3 balloons to the beach buckets alternating between the yellow and the blue. Now for the cake - I used a 3D rubber duck cake pan that I purchased at Michael's frosted it and then for a second cake I did a regular chocolate cake frosted it with Blue frosting and stuck the rubber duck candles in it that I also purchased at Michael's. I also made sugar cookies in the shape of ducks. For the rest of the decorations we did light blue and yellow streamers all over the place and light blue and yellow balloons all over. Everyone had a ball and I got a lot of compliments on how much I put into my daughter's birthday. I am proud of myself too. I deserved the pat on the back. I hope this helps someone else out.
