Rubber Ducky - 1 year old For my son's first birthday I went with the Rubber Ducky theme since "duck" was one of the words he could say best and it was soo cute to hear him say
it. For invitations, I found a Duck shaped invitations that came with a velum sleeve that looked like the duck was sitting in water from creationsbyleslie.com. I worded it
"Gunnar's turning 1, so come join in the fun! We'll have a ducky time!" Along with the date and time and of course a location of the Stover Pond. For decorations, I used
lots of yellow, blue and white Balloons and Streamers.
I used baby blue table cloths. I found some cups, plates, and napkins with a little yellow rubber ducky that had a blue background and bubbles floating around from the local Hallmark store. They were actually for a Baby Shower, but Perfect for our Rubber Ducky Party! For eats, I had cupcakes made that looked like little yellow ducks from a local caterer that all the little ones got to eat. For the adults I bought a sheet cake from our local grocery store frosted white. I then made a pond in the middle with a blue gel frosting and placed 3 small plastic rubber ducky's in the pond. I made blue punch and had several small rubber ducky's floating around in it. I also made Bubble cookies out of Oreos dipped in blue died almond bark! I also had a basket for the food table that looked like a duck that I filled with "duck feed" (chex mix). My son received several gifts that were related to the theme. All of the guests were between one and three so I didn't worry about games. They had a blast just playing with toys I had out and each other. For gift bags, I bought dark blue gift sacks and wrote each childs name in yellow paint pen and glued a duck cutout onto it. Inside they got lots of "ducky" things. A duck cookie cutter, a duck bean bag, a yellow & orange ball, a package of yellow or orange pudding cup (just the outside was yellow or orange inside was chocolate pudding), a duck with a string that when you pull it, it bounces, and a duck zip up change purse. I found most of the ducky goodies right after Easter on sale! The party was a great hit and lots of Fun!Earlier this morning (1-20-03) I submitted an idea for Rubber Ducky - 1 year old. I forgot to mention that I created a cd for background music with songs titles like: Rubber Ducky Your the One (Ernie from Seasame Street), Splish Splash, Happy Birthday, etc. Please add that to my party idea, if you can.
