First Birthday Party Theme: Rubber Ducky To celebrate my son's first birthday, I wanted to choose a unique theme: rubber duckies!!  I ordered the Rubber Ducky pak from Birthday Express and was extremely impressed!!  It had everything I needed for this theme. I set the table with a yellow tablecloth, placemats, ducky napkins, plates and cups. Attached to each chair was a "bubble", which was a helium filled balloon.  I filled a punch bowl with blue juice (for the water) and had rubber duckies floating in it.  Games: (from birthday express) "Pin the duck in the bathtub" game - a huge success!  Also, ducky carnival game in which I filled a pot with water and placed several ducks in the pot. On the bottom of each duck there was a colored dot (blue, yellow, green). Each child got to pick a duck, turn it over, say the color and then choose a prize from the corresponding colored bag.  Another game was "throw the bubble in the bathtub". I took a rubber-maid storage container, decorated it with ducks. Each child got a "bubble" (balloon) and had to try to get the "bubble" in the bathtub. A cute food idea:  make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and use a cookie cutter to cut them in the shape of ducks! I made the cake which had blue icing for the water and yellow icing on the sides.  On top of the cake, in the middle, I placed a big rubber duck and around the cake I placed smaller ducks.  I also put the Wilton edible glitter on top to make the cake look shimmery, like water. I also made ice cream balls for the kids - "duck bubbles!". I formed ice cream in the shape of a ball, rolled it in sprinkles and returned to freezer. Then I took toothpicks and found rubber ducky stickers in which I put the stickers at the end of the toothpicks. The day of the party, I put a duck toothpick in each "duck bubble" and the kids had a blast eating this treat.  The gift boxes from Birthday Express were a big hit also - a stuffed yellow ducky, rubber ducky in the bathtub keychain, stickers, crayons and a ducky coloring book!!  Everyone loved this theme!!!!!!!!
