For my daughter's first birthday we did a Rubber Ducky Bathtub theme, because she loved her rubber ducks, and her first word was duck. For invitations I made them myself. I used white computer
paper, then in a cup I mixed 3/4 cup water, 2-3 tablespoons of liquid dish soap (I used dawn), and a few squirts of blue poster paint. Then I gently stirred it with a straw, then with the
paper handy I blew bubbles in the cup (just like kids blow bubbles in their milk, just be sure not to suck any of this mixture up)until the bubbles mounded on the top of the cup, then I took
a piece of the paper and rolled it across the top of the cup to gather the bubbles, as the bubbles pop they leave beautiful impressions of the bubbles in different shades of blue. I did this
until the page was covered in the bubble print, and layed pages seperated somewhere high to dry. WHen they were completely dry I folded the pages in half from top to bottom and then in half
again from side to side so it looked like a little card. I found a duck in a tub image on the internet so I printed them out and pasted one duck on the front of each invite. I just did normal
wording: On the front: Guess who's Turning 1... Inside: It's Meagan!! Join us for her duck party! Place: Date: Time: RSVP: Decorations and supplies: I did mostly Blue and yellow to cut down
cost. I hung yellow and blue streamers every where. Then I put blue and white balloons (bubbles) all over the walls, ceiling, fans, doorways, etc. I also had a giant mylar duck balloon
attached to her highchair. On the table I had a blue plastic tablecloth (walmart $.88) and I got a duck spoonge and some yellow poster paint laid out the tablecloth on the ground outside and
sponge painted ducks all over it. This took about 2 days to dry completely. We had blue and yellow napkins, clear cups, and blue and yellow plates. On the gift table I used a rubber ducky
blanket that my mom made as the cover for the table. Food: I had lemonade that I dyed a light shade of blue in a clear punch bowl . I took a duck candy mold and put lemonade in it and froze
it so I had little yellow duck ice cubes ( I started this a few weeks ahead so I had
a big baf of ice cubes for the party)I made sure the lemonade was very very cold when I put it in the bowl with the ice cubes so they wouldn't melt so fast. I had a veggie tray and dip, I also made sugar cookies cut out with a duck cookie cutter, I set the cookies on a platter and surrounded the cookies with mini marshmallows to llok like bubbles. For my dd's cake I made a small round cake and iced it blue, I put a little rubber duck on top and took some icing in a tube and piped little white bubbles around the cake and the duck on top. FOr the guests I made cupcakes iced blue, I put little candy ducks (found on the cake decorating aisle at walmart) and 2 mini marshmallows on top. Activities: I made a cd with a bunch of water or bathtub related songs on it, and had it playing in the background at the party. SOngs: Rubber Ducky, SInging in the Rain, Octopuss' Garden, Splish Splash, and some others. I also had adults trading off blowig bubbles for the kids while they jumped and daced around to the music trying to pop the bubbles. Favors: I saved empty formula cans from when my daughter was drinking it, and I washed them out thoroughly and dried the inside well. I peeled the label off and re covered the can with blue contruction paper. I used my duck cookie cutter and cut a duck from yellow paper and drew an eye on it then glued it to the can on top of the blue paper. I stamped each kid's name on a can and I cut circles from waxed paper and glued them around the duck to look like bubbles. These looked amazing. Inside I put a little container of bubble bath and a little container of bubbles along with a little rubber ducky for each child. The whole party cost me about $50. Everyone had a great time, especially my daughter.
