Every summer I have a party for my children and there cousins. The kids are 2-10 so we decided a safari party would be fun for all ages. The invitations were just made with printshop. They
said it was going to be a jungle safari, gave the details, and asked each child to bring a white t-shirt. As the kids arrived I had a table set up with fabric paint and differnt jungle animal
stamps and some leaf stamps. All the kids made a jungle shirt. We set up a clothesline to hang them up to dry during the party. While they were all sitting there I went around and put animals
on their backs and instructed them not to tell each other who was on their back.I used pictures and words because not all the kids could read. I tried to give the older kids harder animals
like the toucan. Then the kids asked each other (and the adults)questions to figure out what animal they were. Once they guessed they got to go over to a bucket where I had paintsticks marked
with each animal. The paintsticks had a string attatched to it and they had to wind it up. This game is great when you have different ages because you can make it easy or hard. At the end of
the string I had attatched a pair of binoculars (oriental trading)and their first clue for a treasure hunt. Then all the kids had to follow their own clues to find their loot bag.(again this
is a good game for all kids, the little ones just had pictures like the slide)After that it was time for dinner. I made a bunch of mini pizza crusts and let everybody assemble their own pizza
and just popped it in the microwave. We had a watermelon fruibasket that was carved to look like a hippo. We drank Jungle juice which was just punch. After the kids ate we did an
elephant race. You reach through the legs of the person in front of you and hold their hand and you hold the hand of the person behind you(who is reaching through your legs)while you
make your best elephant noise. We broke them into two teams and they had a path they had to follow. It was very funny to watch and all the kids got a good laugh. After that we played tiger
ringtoss. I took some jungle animals out of a coloring book, colored them, cut them out, and covered them with contact paper. Then I stapled them to a piece of plywood. the kids used
water balloons to hit the animals. That was everyones favorite part. I reccommend filling as many balloons possible before hand and having them in a big bucket. To end the fun we had a tiger
cake (familyfun.com). For decorations I used green streamers with construction paper leafs and bright jungle flowers stapled to them to give it a jungle feel. I also printed out some little
monkies on cardstock and hung them from the 'vines'. I used all the stuffed jungle animals I could borrow, and had animal print balloons. It was a blast.
