Party Supplies

For my son's third birthday we did a safari party. I went to the local teacher store and bought corrugated brown paper and lots of construction paper. I made Palm Tree bases out of the corrugated paper and then used green construction paper for palms. They were freestanding and very flexible in case the kids tackled them and easy to break down so I can use them again. We used green crepe paper to put vines all over the house and attached leaves cut out from green construction paper and flowers cut out from yellow and orange construction paper. I also put stuffed animals that we have of wild animals around the trees along with the games (Feed the Lion). The invitations invited them along for a safari adventure at the "Child's Last name Jungle".  I ordered foam animal masks, and foam animal magnet crafts from Oriental Trading company.  I also had left over fabric that was tropical so I sewed the goodie bags.  When the child came to the door (there was 16 kids ranging in ages from 1 to 7) they received there goodie bag which had all the supplies that they needed for the party including their mask, craft, tiger tail along with some things to take home like animal crackers, animal fruit snacks and stickers.  We played Pin the Tail on the Tiger, Feed the Lion (from a Parent's DK Children's Parties Book), Monkeys Tail and Animal Pull (Pulled an animal tied on a string from a box that has confetti in it), most of it with the masks on. The winners received books about animals. We had a toucan Piņata filled with an animal assortment from Oriental Trading Company. We fed them pizza, cake and tropical fruit punch.  Every single child there had a blast and went home with goodies!  All the hard work was worth it when my child's eyes lit up with the cake (which was an ice cream cake decorated in safari theme) candles. Best of all I was able to do this all solo since my husband was away with work.  I hope you have as much fun as we did!
