Go Diego Go on A Safari Adventure: My 4 year old loves Diego and Safari Animals and Nick Jr hasn't produced any party supplies yet, so I decided to get creative using my computer, printer, scanner and the Nick Jr website (www.nickjr.com).  Invitations: I found a copy of the Diego Field Journal (aka Diego's computer) on the Nick Jr. website. I printed it then scanned it in my computer so I could have the size that I wanted.  I then added the party details to the screen of the computer and added a picture of Diego on the front of the journal with the words "Go, Diego, Go!" I sealed the envelope with a Diego sticker then I made from a pciture on the website and sticker paper.   Food: We had the party in the afternoon, so only light refreshments were needed.  Cake with Diego, Baby Jaquar, and safari animals, Mexican Appetizers & Tortilla Chips & Dip, Pop & Apple Juice, and Ice Cream Decorations: I purchased Safari Animal plates, cups and a tablecloth from a local birthday supply store. I decided to also cover the kid's picnic table, so I bought a plain yellow tablecloth and decorated it with Safari decals from the dollar store. I also took pictures of my son's Diego figurine, animal rescue center and safari animals. I then printed them on 13x19 paper. On the front door, I had a picture of Diego with his safari friends stating "HAppy 4th Birthday, Aaron' and at the bottom it said "Go, Diego Go, Safari Adventure. I also downloaded some pictures of Diego, Alicia and Dora from the nick jr website and scanned them so that I could make them larger. I also placed Safari Wall Clings throughout the backyard along with our Madagacar Lion & Zebra Floor Rugs. I purchased Zebra, Lion and Monkey mylar balloons from ebay and placed them throughout the backyard. I also placed animal footprints on the patio and sidewalks with chalk. Attire: The birthday boy was decked out in a safari explorer vest in which I ironed on the "Animal Rescue Center" patch from the nickjr website.  I also transformed one of my tan casual blazers into a vest, by cutting the sleeves off and ironing on the decals as well. Daddy and Baby brother were decked out in tshirts with the Animal Rescue Ironons. Music: We played a Go Diego Go CD that we purchased at Best Buy as well as some theme songs that we downloaded from the nick jr website. Activities:  Meet Diego - I found a Deigo costume for rent from www.thefunones.com. The company is headquartered in Illinois, but they ship it for $14 each way. I hired a teenager to play Diego at the party. Total cost roughly $180.  Giraffe and Go Diego Pinatas - I stuffed the pinatas full of candy, safari animals, stickers, compasses and more. I originally purchased the Go Diego pinata from ebay. However, I was concerned that due to poor quality it would not withstand very much hitting, so I purchased a Giraffe pinata too.  Search & Rescue - I performed a skit based on Go Diego Go. I gave each child a Rescue pack purchased from ebay that contained a handmade video watch, handmade field journal, dollar store camera with a picture of Click on it and a telescope from oriental trading. A different animal was hidden in a popup tent/tunnel maze for each child. Each child rescued the animal that was pictured on their video watch. The kids were warned to watch out for the bonobo brothers (streamers on the outside of the tent maze).  To make the video and field journals, I printed them from the nick jr website on sticker paper then stuck them to 8x11 craft foam and laminated them with clear contact paper and cut them out. I also placed velcro closures on the watch face and field journal screen and made small index prints (used foam and contact paper on them as well) of Alicia and the safari animals, so the kids can interchange the animal pictures between the watch and the journal.  The picture of Click was downladed from nick jr and printed on sticker paper then placed on the dollar store camera's. Safari animals are available at oriental trading and local dollar stores.   Diego Sayw Game: The children make different animal movements and sounds based on Diego's instructions. Complete details are provided on the nick jr website. Party Favors: In addition, to the rescue packs used during the search & rescue game, each child was given a white lunch bag with a personalized sticker of Diego stating "Thank you for sharing my 4th birthday with me! " The bags contained "The Loudest Roar" Safari book, candy, safari jungle snacks from sam's club, stickers, and safari animals bubbles from Oriental trading.      Thank you notes: I custom designed a Thank You card with pictures of each of the children with the Diego mascot and other pictures from the party.
