For my daughter's first birthday we choose a safari theme. The invitations read: All you lion tamers gather up your wild animals and head through the jungle to our house at 43 Main St., etc. The front door was decorated with palm tree cut outs and a safari sign made of cardboard stated to enter, "It's a Jungle in there" the children were then ushered to a table where they created their very own goodie bag. using brown bags with a handle, they could place jungle stickers, and decorate with markers. (most of the guest have older children) we played pin the tail on the zebra, hit at a tiger piñata, and goodie bags were filled with zoo drinking cups, zoo whistles, animals balls, animal sticks, etc. the cake served was in the shape of a snake, made by placing cupcakes all in a line. our entire basement was decorated in a jungle theme, guests were encouraged to dress in the same theme.
