City Scavenger Hunt Party

October 2008

DeAnna in Texarkana, AR  USA

This year my daughter wanted to have a back stage pass" party and after searching the web I couldn't find anything to do with that theme but saw the scavener hunt theme so I decided to try that instead. I found the website about diva-girl-stuff and found an invitation that looks like a credit card and instead of VISA it had DIVA on it. You could write your info. on it and have it laminated to look real. We did that and had the kids start at our house. I had three vehicles with us and each had 4 children and two adults per car. i printed out their clues and gave to the kids to figure out where to go. They were clues like... Go to a park by the fair and take a picture of your group to show that you care. (We have a park that is located by our fairgrounds so the kids knew to start there) *Have you heard the song 'Swingin'? I'm sure you have not. Take a picture by the swings; that will be a great spot. * I like the song 'Sittin on the ______ of the bay'. Have a photo taken there to make my day. * Pick a member of your team; this will be a snap. Use the TP to make them a wrap. (Of course the chaperones had the toilet paper in their bag) * We're about done here; your off to a great start; load up in your car and head to Wal-Mart. While there I had one team get the cake that I ordered ice cream and birthday card and another get other items we needed..plates a $10 gift card (that was used as my daughter's gift) etc. (I made sure that she was on the team that didn't pick up her cake and ice cream and other decorations needed.) I gave the chaperones money so the kids were able to purchase the items. After Wal-mart I had them go to our mall and they had to pose like Diva's in front of one store perform I'm a Little Teapot in front of our children's play area get a number off a pay phone and pretend to talk on it one group got a $5 gift card from auntie Ann's and one group got a gift card from the candy store. After they did a few more tasks in the mall their final thing was to meet at chick-Fil-A. It was perfect timing that on their way to the mall my daughters team saw the "Oscar Meyer Weiner" mobile in our city getting gas and actually got their picture taken with it and they were last to get to the mall so we got to decorate with all of the purchased items they bought at Wal-Mart before she arrived. She was so surprised. She even got all of those gift cards they purchased as one of her gifts that night.(She kept questioning me all day about her not getting a cake and ice-cream etc.) She was so happy to see she her cake decorated in her favorite colors on the table when she got there. The kids brought their own money to eat since we really didn't have the money to afford an expensive party this year. I took all of the photos that each team took and had them developed and put them in a photo album from the dollar store so they could have good memories of that day. It was a blast to watch those children run and laugh and have a good time."
