Outdoor Treasure Hunt 3yr

February 2008

Nanxy in Staten Island

Since our son's birthday is in the middle of may, on his 3rd birthday, i decided to give him a Outdoor Treasure Hunt birthday party. We invited 10 little kids, age ranges from 2-5. We tried to keep the cost down but yet wanted to kids to have a Blasted.  (Since our son LOVES Little Einstein) For the invite: I used the computer, designed and printed them out myself. ON THE FRONT of the card, i used 1 of his picture & designed with The Little Einstein Theme around it & wrote: Our Little Einstein Is Turning 3 & You are Invited to ..." INSIDE the card I wrote: "His Little Treasure Hunt Party" "So 2007 ~ 1:00pm - 3:00pm RSVP: (our home number) by May 16 2007 To continue keep the cost down i start to purchase things a few weeks early here and there as i see them on sale. And since Easter just ended alot of the stores like Target Walmart CVS Walgreen etc. etc. have ALL the Easter stuffs mark down i waited until it was like 75-90% off. I purchased a WHOLE LOT of plastic eggs (all different sizes) over 200 eggs together for less then $10. i used these eggs to put the treasures in so the kids wont know what is in it until they open it. For the little eggs I placed either a Hershey's chocolate kisses Tootsie roll coin(s) (Nickle Dime Quarter etc.) ... For the medium size eggs I put things like little snack size candies like skittles M&M's & any goodies bag toys that i can fit in it ... For the larger eggs I put larger items in it like little toy cars snack size cookies etc. etc. (whatever that fits you get the idea). At the day of the party (since it was GREAT weather outside) a few hours before the party we took all the eggs hided them outside around the house front yard side yard backyard wherever the kids were permitted to go. When the kids start to arrived we greeted them in the front. Once everyone presented we handed each child nEMPTY medium size GIFT/GOODIE bag. We told them that there are all kinds of treasures around the house there are inside these colorful eggs. They have to find them and put them in the goodies bag they are given. The kids spent over half an hour looking high & low for the treasures. Once all the treasures was hunted we went inside the house had cakes & drinks. Then we had the kids sat around in a circle on the floor and to open the treasure eggs. They had such a BLASTED !!! And all the treasures they found was their goodies bag/gift. Over all we spent less than $100 for EVERYTHING and the kids even the parents had a GREAT time just watching the kids hunt as well as opening their treasures was an entertainment for the parents.  (NOTE: If the weather was bad or raining that day our Plan B was to hide all the treasure eggs inside the house)"
