Treasure Hunt Party For my daughters sixth birthday party she had a treasure hunt party.
We decorated the basement with streamers and balloons that matched our treasure chest partyware. First on the agenda was lunch. The children enjoyed hotdogs wrapped in crescent rolls, goldfish, pretzels and chips. After lunch they decorated their own treasure chest which I purchased from oriental trading (12 for about $15.00) all the supplies came with, the only thing I needed to do was paint them gold before the party). After that the children went on a treasure hunt which was set up prior to the party. It was nice out so we were able to do the treasure hunt outside. I set up a total of 5 clues. I used nursery rymes since the age range was 3 - 8 years old. I wanted something the little ones would also be able to understand. Before the hunt I gave each child a gold bag with their name on it to put the treasures they found. The Treasure Hunt 1. The itsy bitsy ___________ climbed up the ___________ ___________. The children had to us the missing words to find the next clue. (I hung a spider ring on a piece of thread from the water spout outside)underneath the water spout was a flower pot with a coffee can with a sucker for each child and clue #2. 2. one two buckle my shoe, three, four shut the ______________. (by the front door was a box with a yo-yo for each child with clue #3. 3. Jack & jill went up the hill to fetch a ____________ of water. (the children had to search for a pail which I hid next to the sandbox and inside was a notepad for everyone and clue #4. 4. Here we go round the mulberry _______________. (the children found another coffee can by a bush with a bubble gum coin for everyone and clue #5) 5. Baa Baa black sheep have you any wool, yes sir, yes sir, _______ ______ _________. (they had to find three brown grocery bags bags full of treasures stones) The treasure stones I made 2 weeks prior to the party. The recipe is on the web if you do a search. you mix sand, water, used coffee grounds, flour and salt. Form a ball and put treasures inside. I used shells, play coins and small toys. Shape them into a stone and let dry. the kids had so much fun cracking open the stones and finding hidden treasures. they looked just like a real stone. After that they sifted for gold in a large bucket. Before the party I spray painted rocks gold and put gold rocks and pennies into a bucket of sand and gave the kids a sand sifter and they got to search for gold and coins. they got to keep what they found. Next we opened gifts. Each child stood next to my daughter as she opened the present they gave her. I took a picture and sent it with the thank you card. We also had walk the plank. my husband took two milk crafts and attached a 4 x 8 piece of wood with a bolt. I took a blue plastic tablecloth and cut out pictures of alligators and taped them to the tablecloth and put it under the plank. After the kids walked the plank they were able to pick a treat. Have an adult nearby to help the little ones. we also did a treasure chest pinata that was a big hit. The cake was a treasure chest with cany necklaces and chocolate coins. I also made cupcakes with a chocolate coin on top for the decoration. For treat bags I used chocolate coins, bubble gum coins, money stickers, coin notepads and tatoos. When the party was over the children filled the treasure chest with the gold rocks, pennies and stuff from the treasure stones. One little boy from my daughters class said that was the best day of his life. I allowed 3 hours for the party because I had a large group (20 kids). Fun was had by all! I just sent a party idea in yesterday and forgot to put in the info on the invitation. It was for a Treasure Hunt party for my 6 year old daughter. I printed out a blank map from the internet and then wrote in all the information and the different things they would be doing at the party. After making copies I soaked the invitation in tea water to make it look old and worn. After it dried we ripped the edges and then rolled them and tied them with twine. When see went to school the next day she passed them out to all her friends.
