For my daughter's 12th birthday we did a scavenger hunt at Walmart. We drew names and divided the girls on two teams.
My neighbor came along to walk or I should say run around with one team. I previously went to Walmart and walked around scoping out clues. I made sure that each team had to go from on end of the store to the other. We chose a Super Walmart. The clues were items that would be used at the party. Microwave popcorn and Movie sized candy for the movies we rented, fruit and muffins for breakfast.(We had a sleepover party) And they even picked out their party favors. When I went to the store I scoped out items, small dollar jewelry, flip flops, photo albums. To make sure they picked the right items, I gave them a dollar amount. To prolong the hunt, I even added items that I needed to shop for such as kitty litter, lightbulbs and other misc. items. The first team to make it through the check out were the winners. For the losers I bought purple hats at the dollar store. They had to wear the hats and sing the I Love Barney song to customers entering the store. That was not all....there was one more clue.....to go for icecream at the local icecream parlor. We did this in place of cake. All of my daughter's friends told me it was the best birthday they had ever been too. I also had bought each team a disposable camera to take pictures of their adventure and gave all the girls photo's of their night to put in the photo books that were a part of their favors. It is a party theme I know I will repeat with my younger daughter some day.
