My son, Chase, is in kindergarten this year.
He is hooked on Cartoon Networks Dexter's Laboratory. When it became time for planning his birthday I asked him what type of party he would like to have for his 6 year birthday party. He quickly responded with Dexter's Lab. Luckily I am a first grade teacher with tons of science stuff in my room and I began gathering my thoughts. We began by calling the party "Chase's Laboratory". We told them the party would be "exploding" with things! We made our own invitations on the computer and put a of Dexter right on the front. We set up party stations for the children to complete at the party. Station 1. "Test Tubes Galore" -We set up several test tubes. We set out white powder (sugar) and colored powders(Kool-Aid) for the children to mix inside the tubes. Then they had to use small droppers and carefully drop the water into the tubes. They topped the tubes and shook the mixture up. Then it was time for the real TEST. They had to drink the mixture. Lot's of Smiles!!! Station 2. "Magnetic Station" -They had to find what things on the table the magnets would attract too. We set out various items such as balloons, nails, dolls, hot wheels, birthday candles, etc. Station 3. "Sink or Float" -WE SET OUT GOGGLES AND APRONS FOR THE CHILDREN TO WEAR AT THIS STATION. We set out 2 tubs half full of water. The children were to use the various items on the table and see which ones would sink or float in the water. Station 4. "Detective Work" -Each child had a magnifying glass to use to search for hidden s in a large poster. The s included Dexter, birthday cake, balloon, etc. Station 5. "Dress up like Dexter" -We put a desk for the background with scales, a globe, calculator, etc. sitting on it. Then we borrowed some lab coats from my sister, Kara, who is a dental hygienist. They put on the coats, put a set of the goggles around their neck, and held their clipboard for the cutest ever. We took s of each child at the party. Station 6. Cake, ice cream, and presents. Station 7. "Party Favors" I had pained clip boards with their names, a magnet, and test tube. They carried these around with them while they ran all of their experiments to log their answers onto. We sent those home along with bags stuffed with blow up "globe" punching balls, magnifying glass, magnet set, black glasses, and sticky "goo". After developing their s we sent each child's home along with their thank you note. It was a huge success and we had a wonderful time. Thank you Dexter!
