Science Party - 8 yr. old My son wanted a Science Party for his 8th birtday. We made invitations to a "Weird Science Party".  We had it in our garage because it was going to be messy.  When the kids arrived they decorated "Bill Nye, the Science Guy" bow ties out of construction paper and clipped them on to shirts with paper clips.  The science things we did were to make flubber and film cannister rockets. We had a couple of other things lined up but didn't use them as we were running out of time because they played with the flubber and shot off the rockets (have lots of extra alka seltzer, also for favors). We used "Jimmy Neutron" balloons, paper goods and had a rocket pinata. I made a volcano cake, a dome shaped cake with a small hollow in the top that we put dry ice to make it smoke. A tasty cake, yet cake - but with great special effect.  Our favors were their science projects w/instructions, magnets, magnifying glasses, etc.
