My two kids (boy 8, girl 3) and my sister's daughter (4) all have birthdays in the same month. We combined their days for a big family party. In trying to decide what kind of party to have one
little girl wanted a "hula party" and one wanted Scooby Doo. And it just so happened as I was trying to pick one the kids were watching the Cartton Network and Scooby Doo in "A
Tiki Scare is no Fair" came on! An old episode of Scooby, how convienient! So we ended up looking around and finding toys at the store from that show. The scarey guy being the witch
doctor, Tiki monster. He wears a orange and purple smock type thing and carries a skull cane and has a drum, he also has a wooden looking tiki mask. So we had that doll with the collection of
Scooby characters all sitting on the table as a centerpeice at the party. Everything started coming together pretty easy after that. We found a Scooby in a lei and flowery shorts candy
dispenser and even one that is a bobble head(he does the hula!) and had them on display, too. As everyone came to the party my son was dressed as the Tiki monster with the same skull cane and
drum and even the mask, which I painted on a normal face mask for adults (it was big on his face so it looked perfect for the Tiki mask!). He would say some scarey words like cursing them
then run off! Each person coming in got their scare from him then a flower lei and a name tag with their Hawaiian name on it.I found those on a Luau website. Then they would put any gifts
they had into a giant blow up swiming pool! There was a huge stuffed Scooby wearing a lei sitting in the pool with the gifts. The two birthday girls were wearing hula skirts and bathing
suits. As the guests came in the house was decorated with tiki torches and Luau signs and posters. Even a poster of Scooby that had the tiki masks all around it. We had Skewers with teriyaki
chicken and beef and onions and pineapple. Also fried shrimp with a coconut dip. There was also fried rice and trays of fresh fruit like pineapple, mango, kiwi, etc... We also had pineapple
sherbert punch and as snacks little bowls of mixed nuts and macadamia nuts, and crackers to dip in pineapple cream cheese. All served on the tiki plates from the party store. For desert we
had a choice of pineapple upside down cake or the hula barbie cake(I have the hawaiian Barbie and stuck her in the barbie cake and decorated the skirt part with green frosting and
"combed" it to make it look like a grass skirt!) Hawaiian music was playing in the background, too. After cake and presents each guest got a box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts
and a bag of hawaiian popcorn wrapped with fishing net and ribbon.
