Im planning for my sons 6 yr birthday. For decor I purchased a make your own banner from the craft store. My boys and I worked most of the week tracing the mystery ink gang and painting
them. we will cut and paste these to the banner which will say Rappy Rirphray Raren" (Jaren-my son). My son also has a nice scooby doo sheet that I will be using as a table cloth for the
gift table. I personally made a poster for pin the sandwich on scooby game. Other decor includes scooby doo balloons mystery gang profiles for wall decor streamers scooby plates/cups.
Games include: hot potatoe (only with a dog biscuit) musical chairs with a twistpin the sandwich on scooby and a mystery game. Descriptions below. Our mystery game send the guests and my birthday boy running through the house looking for clues. Starting out with a story (including your childrens names in the story makes it even more fun) The story will say that the mystery gang split into 2 groups just like the cartoon. Fred Velma and Daphne go up stairs. Leaving Shaggy and Scooby to search down stairs. (your kids can search as a team of one but you can also search in 2 groups if you come up with more clues and have a larger group of guests) Clue # 1 will be found in the most likely room that Shaggy and Scooby will look first. (kitchen) The kids will look in cupboards and in the fridge (you can put the clue anywhere). I made pics and pop outs of masked villans for the hidden clue spots. This way the kids feel like they've had a run in with the natorious bad guys. Clue number 1 will congratulate and then continue with the story. This time the story will say that shaggy and scooby hear the girls scream from a back room. They run in and find that Velma has lost her glasses (again!). Directions for finding the next clue is to search for Velmas glasses the same way she would in the cartoon. (on her knees) The 2nd clue will be found on the floor or under a peice of furniture with a pair of glasses. The story will continue with clue #2 to share that Daphne is missing. "She was here just a minute ago. Where could she be. All of a sudden you hear her scream. Where will you find her?" (hall closet) Now that you've found her you have your clue that will lead you to trapping the masked bandits. This part of the story you and the rest of the gang will set up a bait trap and use Scooby for bait. The trap can be set up outside where the children will go to search. The clue will read something like-"Good job. Youre getting close. Soon you'll be able to find your scooby snacks and hopefully all of the missing gifts. The gang have set up a trap on the back porch. Your masked villian can be found where? When you find him/her make sure to unmask them. When you find them you will find your gifts and enjoy your scooby snacks." (by the way Im using waffer cookies and am writing "S" on them for scooby snacks. Im also using a macaroni box to decorate as the snack box.) To make it extra fun when the villian picture is removed (unmasked) a picture of the birthday boy/girl is displayed to symbolize that he/she was the masked villian the entire time. The kids will laugh and now can enjoy the snacks while they get ready for the next activity on your list. Musical chairs with a twist- Unlike the traditional musical chairs you will have the exact amount of chairs as you do children. (10 kids = 10 chairs) Tape a dog bone to every chair bottom (unseen) except 1. Play the game the same way you do the traditional but the child without a bone at the end of the music leaves the game. Now take a chair out but make sure to leave the boneless chair for the game. The game will come down to 2 children. Make sure each time a chair is removed that the chairs are rearranged so that the kids dont know which seat does not have a bone. Other Ideas I have are below- 1. On my computer screen saver is a picture of a scooby doo villan 2. The scooby theme song will play in the back ground 3. My son is having friends stay over night and we have rented the scooby series and scooby movie. 4. Our guests will have the chance to color their own scooby doo coloring sheets printed from online. 5. Im using an idea I found on this very web site- scooby doo will be making a special phone call to the birthday boy using speaker phone so that all the guests can hear. All of this makes for a great scooby themed party! "
