My daughter's birthday is February 2, so it is always a cop out to throw her a valentine's theme or Princess Party.
This year she wants a Scooby Doo party so it was a challenge for me to think of ideas for a Scooby Doo Valentine Party. With less than a month to plan, I started early. I found these Really cute Scooby Doo Valentines (the kind kids give out at school) and using tape, attached them to those mini boxes of chocolates. On the back side of the card, it gave the party location, time, etc. It was hard finding Scooby Doo giftwrap with a red background, so I will "wrap" the main table in metallic red gift wrap as opposed to the normal table cloth. I will then, cut out the Scooby Doo Pics from another gift wrap roll and glue them firmly atop of the red paper randomly. I got lots of small valentine candies, gummies and conversation hearts and sprinkled them as confetti on the table. Acting as a "runner" down the table there will be pots of various sizes turned upside down. I found a red and white plastic tablecloth at the dollar store and used it as "fabric" to drape over the pots. Using glass and red plastic platters, set the platters atop of the pots. This is for presentation. On the platters we will have valentine cupcakes. Pink and white covered with pink and purple colored sugar crystals and some white cupcakes with a pink pawprint. I am also making dogbone sugar cookies and icing the word, "Be mine" on them. Our grocer sells "scooby snacks" cookies and I will have several boxes set up down the runner as well. I found a scooby doo coloring book and cut the pages out and used the pages to form "cones" Attaching a red ribbon to them to form a handle I will fill them with a mini box of crayons, candies, and Scooby Stickers. I also found an idea that I love and will be incorparating it as well. I got a box of colored icecream cones and will fill the pink/red ones with red hots or m and m's...wrap in red cellophane and tie with curling ribbon. there will be a dogbone name tag on them for each child. I also got Scooby coloring books from the dollar store and found mini decks of playing cards at Wal Mart with Scooby on them. I have lots of red, white and pink balloons and will be renting a helium machine. Before blowing up the balloons, I will insert a Scooby keychain or knick knack and attach a string. There will be one "special" balloon for each child. We will also have iced heart shaped cookies and small personal sized pizzas. My daughter loves jello so using small circle shape cookie cutters ( I made my own) I will have "paw print" jello jigglers on platters as well. I bought scooby posters from the store and can't wait to attach them to the front of the kitchen cabinets b/c we have soooo many! While we wait for all the guests to arrive the children will enjoy Scooby on tv as they watch some of my daughter's favorite scooby movies! I love parties and try to make my child's day as special as possible. It isn't Scooby all the way but I found a way to incorporate Scooby and all that valentine stuff they sell this time of year!
