For my daughter's sixth birthday, we used a Scooby Doo theme. We had Scooby Doo balloons blown up all over and stuffed Scooby Doo's greeting at the door and through the house.
The first thing the kids did as they came was decorate treat bags (plain yellow paper bags from Wal-Mart0 with Scooby doo stickers and write their names on them. They used these to collect their prizes and for the piņata. Next we had a cake walk to the Scooby-Doo and the Witches Ghost music CD. We used 'Scooby snacks' made out of construction paper in the shape of dog bones. Next we palyed Scooby Limbo with appropriate limbo music and a Scooby Beanie Baby tied to the limbo stick. We played pop the balloon for Scooby prizes hidden inside, and played the Pin the Bone on Scooby Game that was purchased at the party store. We went outside and played' Melt the Witch" where each child took turns throwing a wet sponge at a witch I had made in chalk on our Little Tykes Easel. The game went on until the picture was dissolved. We had 'ghost' sack races in white pillowcases and more balloon relays. The best part of the afternoon was the 'mystery of the missing birthday cake'. as my daughter was opening presents, I ran around and hid 7 or 8 envelopes with clues types inside. After presenting opening, I told them it was time for cake and had them seated and ready to go. I then pretended astonishment that the cake was gone and all there was an envelope! My daughter and the guests then rushed up and down stairs and outside before finding the cake in the refrigerator. The cake was the treasure chest cake I had seen from a pirate party in Family Fun Magazine where you fill the chest with gold candy coins, ring pops, candy necklaces etc. They were all thrilled. After cake we broke a ghost piņata and passed out goodie bags. The two hours flew by!
