Scooby Doo Party
My one-year-old daughter Jordan loves Scooby-Doo so we threw her a Scooby-Doo Party for her birthday. Plus, her birthday is Nov. 2, right after Halloween. INVITATIONS: I got some regular white paper and soaked it in tea to age it. Then I let it dry and wrote Jordan's Birthday Mystery! Come help us solve the mystery of the haunted birthday party. TIME, DATE, etc. A lot of the kids we invited were a little older than Jordan, but if not you might want to put something other than haunted so you don't scare any of the smaller kids. ACTIVITIES: I set up a clue hunt. After everyone got to the party, I let the kids play in the living room for a few minutes so that I could hide the birthday presents they brought. Then, I went into the living room and said that someone had stolen all of Jordan's presents and in the spot where the presents were was a clue. Each clue led to the next activity. The first one was Pass the Scooby Snacks. I took an old cereal box, decorated it and played it like hot potato, the clue was in the box and led to the next acitivity, which was pin the collar on Scooby. I drew a big picture of Scooby on posterboard with his collar missing. The next clue led to the dining room for sandwiches (Scooby and Shaggy's favorites). Then, I had cartoon characters written on a piece of paper in a balloon. The kids popped the balloons and acted out the characters. The last balloon I saved had the next clue which was back to the dining room for cake and ice cream. Then the kids got to make masks with paper plates and then the next clue led them to the presents, which were in a big chest in our living room. After Jordan opened the presents, the kids saw that their treasure (goodie bags) were at the bottom of the chest. Then, they left. My husband would watch the kids during the activity while I prepared for the next one. DECORATIONS: I just used some Halloween decoration and Scooby decorations from Oriental trading and Party City. The party went perfect and it made it so that the kids stayed together and it helped the party go fast. It was over in two hours, the kids spent about 20 minutes (more or less) on each activity. And the parents loved it because they didn't really have to chase their kids around the house or look for them. Everyone was happy!
