I recently had a sleepover party for my 12th birthday. INVITATIONS: For my invitations I decided to take the easy way out and send an email invitation to all my friends. I had the party start
at 7:00 PM and end at 11:00 AM the next day. I invited 7 girls, 4 who slept over and 3 who left at night. DECORATIONS/ATMOSPHERE: Since not all my guests knew each other, I wanted the
enviroment to be comfy and relaxing. In my basement, I put light blue streamers in a canopy on the ceiling. I taped a few blue and white balloons up there, too, then scattered the rest on the
ground. Everyone thought it looked really pretty, but it was really easy to set up, which was good. And it wasn't too fancy that people couldn't act like spazzes without messing something up.
The plates and cups were blue and white, sticking with the color scheme. For music, I had my iPod on for background music throughout most of the party. ACTIVITIES/GAMES: I had a lot of
activities on hand for us to do if we wanted to, but it turned out that hanging out was way more fun. When my guests arrived I took them to my room to play with my guinea pigs. Then we went
to my kitchen to make our own pizzas (more below), which everyone had a blast with. After pizza, we went outside to play flashlight tag. I live in a townhouse, and there is a big stretch of
open area next to my house, which was perfect for the game. I recommend having a parent or guardian watching you while you play, since it will be nighttime, but far enough away so they don't
interfere. Later we played Truth or Dare in my basement. When we got bored with that, we played a game called He Said She Said. Most of the girls hadn't played it before, but were begging to
play more after the first round was over. To play, sit all your guests in a circle. Each one should have a piece of paper and a pencil. At the top of the paper they write a girl's name, then
fold it over. Then the pass it to the person on their right, and write a boy's name, then fold and pass. Then you write where they went, what he said, what she said, and an ending, passing
the paper to the right in between each. But no peeking at what other people already wrote, or it won't be as fun! In the end each guest will get to read their story out loud. This is
hilarious, especially if one of the guests takes part in the story. After my 3 guests that weren't spending the night left, we watched 2 movies. The first was Mean Girls and the second was
Twilight: Eclipse. The girls enjoyed both. PARTY SNACKS: For pizza, I bought a make-your-own-pizza kit. It included 8 premade doughs and 8 sauce packets. The toppings were pineapple,
pepperoni, black olives and of course, cheese. The drinks were Sprite, lemonade, fruit punch and root beer, which came in real glass bottles. Everyone loved these. During the movie I filled
giant, classic red and white popcorn buckets with popcorn (of course), Lays potato chips, Fritos and Twizzlers. It wasn't messy, and everyone felt like they were at a real movie! For
breakfast we had chocolate chip pancakes, mini sausages, blueberries, strawberries, orange juice and milk. Despite being exhausted, everyone ate a ton of food! CAKE: My cake was a 3 layer red
velvet cake with white icing and white chocolate shavings on top. It didn't exactly stick with my theme, but everyone said it was delicious. PARTY FAVORS: For party favors, I got striped
pastel goody bags. I filled them with flashlight keychains, rainbow lollipops (the fancy kind, not dum dums), chocolate balls wrapped in silver foil, and a pair of fun socks. At this age
girls are really into wearing fun, mismatched socks, so I thought this would be a good favor to get. For my guests who were more girly, I just replaced the socks with lipgloss. MORNING:
Everyone woke up at about the same time. We shared dreams we had and tried to figure out what they meant. Then we went upstairs and ate breakfast. After that we went downstairs and watched
music videos, played He Said She Said, and the girls packed up all of their belongings. Then I waited by the door to greet their parents, give them a goody bag and wave goodbye when they
left. I had a great time at my party, and I think my guests did, too. One key thing to remember when planning a sleepover is NOT to plan too much. :) Your friends are there to hang out with
you, which is the fun part in the end. I hope this helps you if you're planning a sleepover party, because I can guarantee that you and your friends will have an amazing time!
