For my daughter's 5th birthday she wanted to have a pretend-sleepover. We invited seven of her girlfriends. For the invitations I sewed a 4 x 6 white pillow. Before stuffing I ironed on a
transfer that I had printed on the computer. (I purchased T-shirt iron-on transfer paper from my local office supply store). The invitation read: Bring a sleeping bag, pillow, and your
favorite stuffed friend, to a sleep-over that is pretend! We then made a pillow case with bright fabric to slip over the pillow. We mailed in a 5 x 7 envelope (postage was $.60). Each little
girl arrived in her pajamas. At first they spent time finding the perfect place for their sleeping bags. After everyone arrived, we gave each little girl a foam door-hanger (found at local
craft store) and letter, heart and flower stickers to decorate. Once they finished their craft, we turned on a movie for them to watch. We brought them each pizza, cheese puffs, apple slices,
and pink lemonade for them to munch on while watching the movie. When they were finished eating, I gave each little girl a facial. I had purchased a head band and wash cloth (which they were
able to take home). I used a cucumber cleaning pad and lavandar moisturizing lotion. It was simple, yet they really felt like big girls! Then we gave them each a bowl of popcorn to eat while
they finished the movie. When the movie was over, we had cake. I had a local baker make individual cakes for each child. They were made to look like pillows and they had their initial and a
flower on it. The girls were so excited about their own cakes. After the gift opening, we had them get back into their sleeping bags and we read them a bed-time princess story. Then they
packed up their sleeping bags and all their belongings, and then parents arrived. For their goody bags I took a standard white pillowcase and using the same fabric as their inviation I
applicade their initial on each one. In the pillocase, I put a book (I purchased through Scholastics for $1), a toothbrush, nail polish, and a pack of microwave popcorn. We also sent each
child home with breakfast for the next morning. In a brown paper sack we put two glazed doughnuts, a apple juice box, and a napkin. I let my daughter decorate the bags with stickers.
The party was from 5 pm - 8 pm. The cost was less than $10 per child. One suggestion, if you can not sew ask a seamstress to help you with the invitations. They are easy to make, yet have a
huge impact on getting the party started!!! Each girl used their inviations as their dolls pillow. Every child had the best time, and I have received calls from all the parents saying their
child can not stop talking about the "sleep-over".
