Almost Sleepover Party for a 6 yr old  For my daughter's 6th birthday, we had an almost sleepover party which was held from 5-8pm on a Sat. night.  There were 10 girls in total. In addition to my husband and myself, we had 2 teenage helpers which we couldn't have done without for both the craft and the pedicure/manicure. The invitation said to bring pajamas, a pillow and a favorite stuffed animal.  Half the girls arrived in pajamas so it didn't take long for all to be in their PJ's. As each guest arrived, we split the girls into two groups. One group had their nails painted by one of the teenagers and the others went to the craft area where we had two tables set up to decorate pillowcases (I bought white cases at Target for a very reasonable price).  I purchased fabric paints, stencils and iron on decals from Michael's. (Make sure you put cardboard in between the pillowcase so the paint doesn't bleed to the other side). My husband, myself and the other teen were all helping the girls with thier pillowcases.  After the girls were done with one activity, they switched so each one had their nails done and decorated a pillowcase. (We put the cases in the basement and had to deliver them to the party attendees after they were dry the next day). For dinner, we served pizza. After dinner, we played 3 games.  The first game was "Pass the slippers". We had a new pair of slippers that were passed around the circle of sitting girls.  As the music stopped, the one with the slippers was eliminated and went to pick a small bottle of nail polish to add to their goody bag. When it got to the last 2 girls, the one with the slippers when the music stopped got to keep the slippers. The next game was bed bug toss.  We used a baby crib we had and put a new small stuffed animal in it.  We had 5 bean bags and the girls took turns throwing the bean bags into the crib.  The one with the most bean bags in the crib won the stuffed animal. Each round would have several girls who tied with the number of bean bags in the crib.  We started out fairly close to the crib for the toss and then kept moving back farther. Again, as girls were eliminated they went and picked out a compact mirror for their goody bag. The last game was musical pillows, very similar to musical chairs, only with pillows. Once again, as girls were eliminated, they picked a pencil for their goody bag. Once this game was done, the girls just let loose and started dancing to the music while I got the cake ready.  After cake and presents, the girls settled down and watched Mary Kate and Ashely's Sleepover video. It was a great way to clam them down just in time for their parents to arrive!
