This year I turned thirteen and wanted a special party. I didn't want anything to childish as I was entering being a teen. I invited nine girls to come over for a sleepover and go out to eat. For my theme I chose Asian because one of my good friends was adopted from Asia and I thought that would be cool. (she always feels like she oesn't fit in because she is from Korea). Not only would this party be cool fo me, but we would be able to learb a little more about her culture. INVITATIONS-The invitations were kimonos in all diffrent designs. Inside it had basic party infomation. FOOD-When my friends arrived at five-thirty we played a game where we made a check list of things to see if they brought that. (Roll out your sleeping bag, put your pillow on top of it, pull out your pajamas, take out your toothpaste and tooth brush) This game helped to see if any of my friends needed to phone mom to see if she could bring it up instead of calling her at midnight. The winner recived a small prize. We then got into my parent's car, they had assigned cars so tht there wouldn't be any fighting. We then went to Lava Asian Grill where my parents had reserved the sunken table. ( The table was at ground level and the seats were in a "pit". The rule was thar we had to eat off the kids menu. That wasn't a problem because it was more than enough food.(Six sushi, potato roll, rice, main course which was chicken or beef teryaki or tempura.) When got home, my parents transformed our faimly room to an Asian room by hanging Chinese paper lanterns around the room. My birhday cake was an ice-cream cake that was shaped into a dragon. For candles, my mom found votives that were shaped like chinese carry-out boxes. ACTIVITIES-The first activity we did was the Mulan Name Game. Each girl was given a character from Mulan that was taped on their back.(They were not allowed to look at it.)They walked around the room asking yes or no questions. At the end of the game, they were each asked who they thought they were. If they got it right, they recived a prize, if they got it wrong, they still recived a prize to keep things fair. We took a break for presents because if there are too many activities going on at once it can get overwhelming. The second game we played was pinata. We got a dragon pinata and filled it with traditional Japanese rice candy as well as Japense fans.Once agian we took a break to eat snacks my mom had made. We made popcorn and put out fortune cookies. We also gave each of my friends a packet of dragon fire gum. Our third actvity we painted chopsticks my mom got at a local restraunt. At about eleven we got changed into our pajamas and settled down to watch DVDS. We watched My Big Fat GReek Wedding and Sweet Home Albama, but anything would do. MORNING-We woke up in the morning and had pancakes my dad made. FAVORS-We took chinese take-out boxes and filled them with fortune cookies, rice candy, chopsticks, and luckey cats. It was a great party and my friends loved the oriental theme.
