Slumber Party for 11-year old boy My son just turned 11 last month, and I spent hours researching the perfect party and scouring the web for ideas. The party turned out extremely well,
even if I do say so myself. "That was the best sleepover ever!" was overheard whilst the boys were leaving in the morning, which gave me a huge sense of pride at my accomplishment.
Here's the way it all happened. I had written down about 60 different games for my son to select from and he chose about 7. He is pretty cool, so he only wanted cool games! Other games: Feed the penguin: split kids up and make two lines about 5 feet apart and the guys on one side try to throw cheese goldfish into the mouth of the guys on the other side. Squirt gun game: need two buckets for each boy. Fill one bucket with water and each boy gets a squirt gun to shoot water into a bucket about 8-10 feet away. This was really fun! Hide and remember tray items: This is really fun. You put 10 things on a try and show them to the kids for exactly one minute. You can go over what each item is if you want to. Then you cover the items and take them away. Kids try to remember that 10 items and write them down on a sheet. Hints I would give to other moms and dads attempting this kind of party: 1)Try to schedule a lot of things and put the schedule up for all to see. If there are a lot of things to do, the kids never get bored and can't get in to too much trouble. 2)Give a specific time for the parents to p/u the guys in the morning. 9am is good. 3)Don't expect to get much sleep yourself. Resign yourself to the fact that you are going to be greatly appreciated, so just go with it. 4)Take the time to go over with your child before the party what being a good host really means. Explain how it is his responsibility to make sure every person at the party is having a good time. 5)Renting a good movie like Pirates of the Carribean is a good way to get the guys to chill out a bit before them go to sleep \*yeah, right!\* 6)Don't kill yourself making a hot breakfast, put out some cold cereal and milk and bowls and let them do their own thing. 7)We took lots of photos and included them on the thank you notes to the party-goers. 8)Get good prizes, but do NOT spend a fortune! I had excellent success at the 99 cent store, Big lots, and Party city. Prizes we gave away were: Playing cards, king size candy bars, holographic stickers, etc. Have a good time! Then we added up the money at the end. We did have some problems. With a lot of boys yelling out answers it can get a bit overwhelming. It would be better to have a bell for each boy and before they answer they should be called on, even if you only give everyone a spoon and an overturned bowl to "ding". You might also try to do this kind of early before the guys get too wild. It sure was fun though!
