13th Slumber Party
Pick a really feminine yet funky decorating scheme. For example, purple and white streamers with matching balloons and silk flowers look great in the dining area. In the room you will be sleeping in (in this case the front living room) cover your ceiling windows and walls (if possible) in black paper. Buy tubes of glow in the dark paint and decorate with stars. Another way is glowing star stickers or plastic glow stars. Use sticky tack or tape to stick the stars. From the ceiling, hang stars that you cut from construction paper from the ceiling with fishing line. Clear the room of all furniture except a couple of lamps. Put a black light in all the lamps for a night time effect. A great option is to set up tents or lean twos in that room to sleep in. If not you can use your imagination and use dark brown/black blankets to make a giant lean two across the room. Cover the floor in a squishy mat or just tell everyone to bring there own foamy. For the movie/dance/games room (in this case a basement room with no windows) set up lots of funky disco balls lava lamps and strobe lights. Decorate with the same star look if you want. Now for the food! Tell your guests to eat a light dinner and serve snacks for the whole evening. Stuff like pizza cups, bite size tacos, cheeseburger pizzas, nachos, brownies, jello, and cake. At this party there will also be hot tubing (if you have a hot tub or can rent one). Decorate the hot tub area with yard torches and lanterns as well as the star theme. If you want, decorate the area with the "Survivor's" tribal council area theme. Hand make your invitations using supplies from a scrapbooking store. Stick with the star theme. Now for the Party!!! Have your guests arrive around 6:30 and start with some indoor games. Good ones are party Ping-Pong, Twister, The name Game, and Truth or Dare. Now you can all change into your swimsuits and put on a little swimsuit cover up. If it is a warm night, head outside for a little volleyball or a game of tag. Then try and cram everybody into the hot tub. This can be very entertaining (about 8 to 12 guests). After some girly chit chat in the hot tub head back inside and dance till you drop under the strobe lights. Play the latest hits and make sure it is so loud that you can barley hear eachother. After you are done dancing everybody should change into there p.j.'s and head to the movie room (big screen t.v. and surround sound). We usually try and cram everybody on too one couch because these can be scary movies or just a lot of fun. Some good movies are The Matrix, The Fast and the Furious, Mercury Rising, Shrek, 10 Things I Hate about you, Save the Last Dance, A Walk to Remember etc., depending on the age and maturity. After your movies (if its not to late, turn all the lights out in the house and have a game of hide and seek in the dark. Divide into teams to make people a little more comfy. Then its time for the real fun to begin. Climb into your sleeping bags and try not to be to loud. Tell some jokes and have some giggles. Now, every teenage girls knows that it is tradition to play some nasty tricks on the first person asleep. Here are some great ideas: Drawing on the persons face or giving them a nasty makeover, filling there hair with gunk (hairspray and gel) and letting dry in a wild way, the classic whip cream in the hand, buying some color hair gel and putting it in there hair so they think there hair is died in the morning, or my favorite, which works best with hardwood floors, duck taping them to the floor! It is really amusing to see them trying to get up or roll over. The hardest part is to stay quiet because you are giggling so much. Here are some great tips.....try and get rid of your parents...send them to a movie...a LONG movie...to a friends house or out to get something. Anything will work!
