Pretend Sleepover (2 yr. old) For my daughter's 2nd birthday I gave her a pretend sleepover. For the invitations I took a picture of my daughter sleeping in her crib, scanned it & on the front with the picture I put You're Invited to a sleepover.... On the inside I placed ...pretend that is. Wear your favorite jammies and bring your bedtime buddies on date at time place child's room.  Everyone loved the personal touch with my child's picture & for those parents at school this was a good way for them to place the name with the child. The time of the party was 5 on a Saturday. Decorations were moons & stars I made out of poster board. In the center of my living room I made a big sheet tent lined in purple Christmas lights for a special night time glow. In the center I laid blankets and pillows. The food table was decorated with a yellow table cloth and star confetti.  Around the food bowls I placed some of my daughters baby stuffed animals, lamb, teddy, etc. Snacks consisted of PB&J sandwiches shaped in stars & moons (Chicken Salad for adults), pastel colored marshmallows, cheese & crackers & cat eye treats (ritz crackers, peanut butter, bananas & raisins layered in that order, kids & Adults loved them) & ice cream cups.  The cake was a half moon with sleepy face and pajama hat with a cookie star on top. Before the party I went to the library and checked out books about sleep geared towards 2 & 3 year olds.  I only invited 3 children which made the party easy to handle and so my 2 year old would not be overwhelmed.  As they arrived I took pictures of each child in their pajamas with their bedtime buddy with my digital camera. While my husband printed off 2 copies of the picture, the children with help from their parent had snacks and watched the Bear & the Big Blue House episode Sleepy time with Bear & Friends. Once the pictures were printed they used one to decorate a birthday card for my daughter. They used markers, stickers, etc  to decorate precut moon shape construction paper cards. The other copy went into their goodie bag as a keepsake.  Once the project was over we opened gifts inside the tent, dressed up their bedtime buddies with baby doll clothes, had a pillow fight, & read all the bedtime stories. Doing the stories last helped the children calm down and then everyone received their goodie bags full of night time related 2 yr. old safe items and waved goodbye. For the Thank You notes I took a picture of my daughter in the middle of her gifts with a homemade sign saying Thank you.
