My daughter turned 9 this month. We usually go outside the home to host birthday parties, however this year we decided to have a slumber party. It was great!  Four girls was a great number.  I was able to provide nicer things for them to do and bring home because it was affordable not to mention they got along really well and did not break off into "clicks". some of the ideas, I used were from this site and may have been modified.  I sent out miniature pillow invitations.  I printed the invitation on the computer using a cloud/star background and turned it into a stuffed pillow with a tiny amount of pollyfill. I made the pillowcase out of cloud/star printed fabric from Wal-Mart.  I do not sew, so I used stitch witchery and glue.  When the girls arrived they started on working on their T-shirts.  I purchased white T-shirts from the dollar store and painted four flesh colored circles on them with each girls name below a circle. I put a little blush on the cheek area. I also used transfer paper on the computer to print SLUMBER PARTY 2002.  The girls used permanent sharpie markers to color in their self portrait onto the painted circle on each of the four shirts. They did an amazing job. The next thing they worked on were friendship bracelets made from a bead and string kit purchased from the party dept. at Wal-Mart. Once I got them started on this, I used an iron to heat set the permanent marker self portraits onto the shirts. They were ready to wear.  They wore their pajama pants under. As far as decorations, I removed some furniture from my daughters room to give them more floor space. We hung stars and moons made with two bright colored poster boards and fishing line from the ceiling. We blew up neon colored balloons and spread them around the room on the floor. I placed a black light in the room to illuminate their white T-shirts, and decorations.  My daughter selected the snacks, ei. fruit roll ups, cheese in a can and crackers, chips and dip, goldfish crackers.  I placed these snacks into a basket in the bedroom. I purchased inexpensive drink bottles for each girls that could be closed to prevent spilling. I also rented movies such as Princess Diaries, and many versions of Mary Kate and Ashley. These were also placed into a separate basket in the room for them to watch on my daughter TV. I hung a poster of Aaron Carter on the wall and bought the reddest, cheapest lip stick I could find. After painting each girls face with an exaggerated set of lips they were blind folded and spun around nine times and had to try to kiss the poster. The winner got to keep the poster and the girls autographed it. I should have purchased two posters so that my daughter could have kept this one and the winner get a new one. It was time to leave the girls to themselves to play card games, do makeovers, listen to music and watch movies.  I tried really hard not to monopolize their time and let them enjoy each others company. I had available lots of play makeup, nail polish and hair accessories.  The girls had a great time making each other over. The feel silent at around 3:00 AM. For their party bags I purchased miniature makeup boxes and included tattoos, candy, friendship necklaces, and mini tap lights from the dollar store.  I gave them to them that night so they could use the night lights and other goodies. I will include a thank you note to each girl in attendance with a group picture of the four with red lips, T-shirts and all.
