Awesome Back to Nature Sleepover!  Easy to create, fun to call back on! This fun and imaginative theme will put of all your friends into a great mood and let you hang out! Invite a close-knit group of good friends, ages 8-12, who get along with you and eachother. Remember little parties are as fun as big ones, easier to clean up, and easier to pay attention to also. Pick some small, pretty flowers and/or leaves and press them in between the pages of a heavy book for a couple of days. Then glue the pressed blooms and leaves onto a glossy card paper, stretch and tape clear plastic wrap over the front of the card, and dry. inside, print dates, times, locations, etc. Send invitations out 2 weeks in advance preferably. Don't hand out in school to avoid hurt feelings by uninvited classmates.   BACK TO NATURE ACTIVITIES: Classic = a scavenger hunt. divide guests into teams and give them a list of items to find (triangular rocks, maple leaves, cocoons, flat stones, snakeskin's, wild berries, special flowers, feathers, seeds, etc...). establish a time limit and certain boundaries with the kids, then let them loose. judge the hunt winners on the amount of listed items they brought back, and whether in good condition. a good prize would be a goody basket filled with packets of seeds, a kid's gardening book, and a colorful hand shovel. if it's artsy you want, sure! hand out little terra cotta pots, brushes, and poster paints to set the imaginations to work! these make for a great favor afterwards. a great girlfriends activity is " nature wreathing". provide colorful pipe cleaners and wax or plastic figures of flowers, leaves, butterflies, dragonflies, and/or bumblebees. let the girls thread and twist and tie to make a lovely head adornment. You can also take nature walks with guests in a nearby scenic spot and give them disposable cameras and scrapbooks to photograph, sketch, and write down what they see and hear. it could be the wind, a rushing stream, cheerful birds or rowdy animals. at evening-time, observe the stars and try to spot the constellations. have some literally "heavenly" trivia to get minds working! have ecological debates on important or recent issues. then watch an eyewitness video or a nature special on the discovery channel. these activities are very theme-coordinated and fun!  BACK TO NATURE MENU: Have natural snacks like 100% fruit juices, sunflower seeds or toasted pumpkin seeds, carrot sticks, celery with peanut butter, miniature garden-fresh salads, toasted or roasted nuts, raisins, berries, grapes, and so on. Some favorite sandwich fillings like cheese, unsalted butter, asparagus, cucumbers, eggplant, tomato, peanut butter, jams, jellies, and preserves are considered fresh and healthy. eat up, have a blast! BACK TO NATURE DECOR: Use wildlife posters, mellow music (bird calls, babbling brook), bright balloons and banners, nature memorabilia (feathers, butterfly wings) and the plug in scents of fresh wildflowers to bring a decorative and natural atmosphere right in!  THOSE ARE MY BACK TO NATURE PARTY TIPS.
