Its summer time and my daughter wanted to have a sleep over party. We started by sending out INVITATIONS. The Invitation said: Brielle is having a sleepover party!  Brielle would like to invite: here we listed the names of the kids attending. We'll be having dinner, crafts, games, karaoke, movies, and playtime. Please bring: a sleeping bag, pillow, pjs, sleeping buddy, toiletries, a change of clothes for the next day, and a favorite snack to share.   Please RSVP by date.  Pick up time will be 10am please.  The invitation also included the date of the party, our address, phone number, and that the party would go from 4pm to 10am of the next day. My daughter helped pick everything out that was on the invitation and decorated it with pictures, backgrounds, etc.    My daughter then sat down together and she picked the crafts, activities, and menu for the whole event. This helped me ensure that we would be doing things that she wanted to do.  For DECORATIONS, we kept it pretty simple.  We made our family room the sleeping room. It had lamps & night lights for ambiance.  In the basement we set up a craft table for the crafts we'd be doing. We set up a karaoke area in the basement as well that had disco, strobe, blue siren lights, and a basket with dress up clothes, a rack full of cds. In the kitchen we would be making dinner together so the counters were set up for baking with all the ingredients. ACTIVITIES:  We started by greeting the guest and letting the kids play in the backyard. When everyone arrived we put all the sleeping bags out in the sleeping room.  We went to the craft area where we started with sleep masks. These were masks cut out of felt, with a string to hold it on your face. The kids decorated them with glitter glue, beads, and sequins.  Next we made dream pillows. I had pre-sewed a rectangle of fabric leaving a space for the stuffing.  The girls all stuffed the pillows, and sewed the hole closed. We then made door hangers that they used stickers, glitter glue, buttons, etc, to decorate them and write on them whatever they wanted.  Finally the last craft was to decorate a sleeping buddy. I had pre-sewed little brown bear bodies. I stuffed them and sewed them closed.  The girls all decorated them with eyes, nose, mouth, tails, and any other decorations they wanted to add.  We took turns sharing the name that each person gave their bear. FOOD:  We then decided to make dinner together.  We made little pizzas. Each girl got a few refrigerated biscuits to flatten for the crust. They spooned the sauce on top, and topped with cheese. They could add extras if they wanted, like pepperoni. I put them on a pan and baked them.  While they were baking the kids helped get their plates ready. We had carrots, fruit salad, nachos (corn chips and warmed cheddar cheese from one of those large Sam's Club cans), juice bags, and then the pizzas when they were finished cooking. GAMES: Following dinner we went back down to the karaoke room.  Each girl had turns picking out their song, getting dressed up, and performing their song. I used my digital camera taking tons of pictures, and also took a digital video with it so that I could send it to their parents after the party.  While the girls watched they were playing toy instruments and dancing supporting each other. We then played some games like Twister, cake walk, musical chairs, and just danced. It was then time to slow down and unwind.  My daughter had picked out the movie Arthur and the Invisibles to watch.  All the girls got their snacks they brought to share out and put them on the kitchen counter. Before they filled their plates we had root beer floats in the kitchen as that was one of the snacks my daughter wanted to have.  After the floats the girls took turns filling their plates and brought them out to watch the movie. Our snack was popcorn and we had bought the little popcorn bags so that each girl could have their own bag. After the movie was done it was time for bed.  The girls were wiped out so I just read them all a story and laid with them a bit until they fell asleep.  The next morning we served pancakes and juice.  They had their choice of plain or chocolate chip pancakes.  Following breakfast the girls all got dressed. I brushed and decorated their hair with braids, ponytails, or just fancy barrettes. I sprayed cotton candy perfume on them, and added some glitter powder to their arms. They played in the backyard until their parents picked them up, which really wasn't that long. Their FAVORS were their masks, door hangers, dream pillows, and sleeping buddies. It was a great party, and I'd do it again.
