This is my latest January slumber party when I was in 5th grade. Mom got a good overnight deal for 2 adjoining suites at the Country Suites in Diamond Bar.
The suites are nothing like the ones in 5 star hotels in Las Vegas. They are more of regular rooms with a small refrigerator, a microwave and TV. But the view of the golf course was beautiful and Mom made sure that the walls are thick and our rooms are located on the farthest end of the hall. The guests unpacked and changed into their swimsuits as they arrived. We proceed to the heated swimming pool where we played ball with a driveway tennis net that we brought from home. Then we moved to the jacuzzi where we toast with Martinelli sparkling cider in plastic stem glasses and ate pizza that we asked Dominos to be delivered to the pool area (the delivery boy need not pass through the front desk). Then, we went back to the rooms to shower and change into our jammies. We had KFC for dinner and soda. Then, we used one room as our dance room with strobe lights that we brought from home. Cake and milk for nightcap. Went to bed. But most of us were just too excited to sleep so we roamed the corridors and the elevators, but one hotel guest complained about our noise and the front desk threatened to throw us out unless we behaved. Of course, the principal heard about it the following Monday. She said that what a shame that the best girls of the school were almost thrown out by the hotel for misbehaving. Ah well, we had fun!
