As I approached the summer, my oldest daughter who is 8 wanted to have her annual end of the year party. We always have a party to celebrate the end of the school year. We couldn't decide on an idea. Then it hit us: A spa party! What better way to celebrate the end of the year and get ready for summer! I started by choosing the colors: violet, blue and sea foam green. She made a list of friends she wanted to invite. We had 8 girls total. I got invitations with bubbles and shoes on them, and I made sure it was clear that every girl was to come in her pj's. These were hand delivered. I went shopping for the party bags which included: loofas, bracelets, nail stickers, nail polish, body wash and lotion and other small girly things. For this party I used my living room, front hallway, and kitchen. I bought tulle in our 3 spa colors and draped them over all the doorways, mirrors and mantle. Then I cut out stars from foil and hung those from the ceiling, mantle, and doorways. I also cut out squares from the foil and placed white tealights on them which gave the rooms a nice glow. I covered all the chairs, pillows, and couches with sheets and pillowcases that matched our theme. As the girls arrived there was a basket by the door for their slippers/shoes. I then gave them theme colored flipflops to wear. This was easy, I just called and asked parents for shoe sizes. Our first game was a scavenger hunt. I divided the girls into 2 teams and gave them a list to take around my neighborhood. The list had spa/makeover items such as: nail polish, shampoo, lipgloss, nailcutters, brushes, ect. The first team back with all the items got friendship braceltes. (I got enough for everyone) The next game was musical gift. Every girl sat in a circle. Then I started one person off with a gift that was wrapped with many layers(about 10). I played music: Gwen Stafani's Sweet Escape" which is perfect for the theme. When the music stopped the person who had the gift in their hand got to unwrap a layer. This goes on till the last layer is ripped off and the person who unwraps it wins! I wrapped a cute frame that had a girls shopping theme on it. Then we went into the kitchen where the girls made their own bath salt. I got normal sea salt. I then bought bath oil that was scented. The girls mixed the sea salt and oil. I then gave them food coloring and they got to make their bath salt any color they wanted. I had an old spice rack that I never used so I cleaned out all the jars and the girls were able to use the jars to put their bath salt in. These were the perfect size and they were great because they had lids. They then decorated them with stickers. After this we ate. For my menu I had made peanut butter turkey and rasberry creamcheese sandwhiches. I used a star cookie cutter to make all the sandwhiches star shaped. I served apple cider in champagne glasses. I also had fresh strawberries and cool whip. Prior to the party I went to a local thrift shop and purchased lots of old cups (lemonade cups gelitan cups and pudding cups) I made pink lemonade with a slice of lemon on each glass. I made red jello with a small swirl of whipped cream and I made chocolate pudding and sprinked tiny marshmellows on top. I also purchased little debbie snacks which I unwrapped and placed on pretty glass trays and stands. All the food looked really nice and fancy because everything was on crystal and pretty glass. We then moved on to our makeover. For this I set up 4 staions. In the front hall I set up a vanity with a chair. Here the girls got their make up and hair done. They all got tiaras to put in their hair and take home. I also had a manicure station where they got to soak their nails get them polished and got nail decals put on. Then there was a pedicure staion with two foot spas. They had their feet scrubbed and polished. In the kitchen I had facials. Every girl pulled their hair back with soft microfiber headbands (they took these home too) and they got masks put on their face and clenser. These stations went smoothly. Every girl got a partner and they moved with her to all four stations. At every staion there was a person to wait on them. I had my sister come and help. My neice and her friend who are teenagers also helped. It was very cost efficient almost everything I got came from dollar stores. The tiaras I got at oour local swapmeet for just $1! The tulle was very inexpensive from wallmart and it added a very whimsical effect. The girls had a blast! They got to take home lots of goodies and many fun memories!"
