DAY SPA Party Great for ages 8 and up! This was my daughter's first slumber party. It was so much fun I think I'll do the same with a group of my girlfriends to celebrate my next
thirty-something birthday.
At 6pm we had four 8 year old girls who stayed up til 11, were awake at 5, and going home at 10am. They made 3 spa inspired crafts: Bath Salts, Bath Bunnies, and Glitter Hair Gel. They enjoyed 4 more spa inspired activities: Foot soaking & massage, hair curlers, nail painting and new hair do's. Each girl took home her foot soaking tub (black dish pan from $1 store) with all her goodies: Bath salts, hair glitter, nail file, shower cap, spa gloves, bath bunnies, funny eye mask, and a comb. Invitations: Made on my computer. In big letters I put DAY SPA in a way for it to read like this: birth DAY SPA party on a background of bubbles. I used the bubble background too to make gift tags for all their crafts. Each girl got a number of tags with "made by (her name)" on them. I had two bags of balloons waiting to be blown up which helped keep the girls entertained and occupied between activities. They were blue and white like water and bubbles. They decorated some and wrote notes to each other on others with markers. After pizza and apples and green beans (menu by my daughter) we made BATH SALTS. I gave each of the girls their own mixing bowl and three cups of regular sea salt. We added 15 drops peppermint essential oil to each and 1tbs apricot seed oil (for moisturizer)(lots of recipe ideas online). I bought tupperware type containers made for shaking up salad dressing for the girls to take their salts home in and they decorated them with sticky foam letters. Instructions were included on their gift tags "add 1/4 cup bath salts to warm running water" While watching a movie I gave them each a plastic dish pan with warm lavender water to soak their feet in. I massaged body butter on their hands and covered them with spa gloves then dried their feet one at a time buttered them and wrapped each foot in a hand towel. I put just a few curlers in their hair and gave them each a terry lined shower cap - which they all opted to wear to bed. When they woke at 5 they watched another movie and at 6:30 I got out fresh berries, bananas, yogurt, granola and mini graham craker crusts which they put together in a variety of ways. After breakfast we made BATH BUNNIES(washcloths rolled, folded and tied to look like bunnies). They had to work together to hold the bunnies together and tie them. I bought the washcloths in bulk 20 for $4. Next craft was GLITTERING HAIR GEL. I bought empty plastic containers with flip tops from a bulk potions store, filled them with hair gel and added very fine purple poly glitter - shake to mix. I fixed their hair in ways only little princess girls and punkrockers love. Using their very own glitter hair gel of course. After that we painted their fingernails and toenails, had a snack, and at 10 am - believe it or not - I was sad to see them leave.
