DAY AT THE SPA PARTY FOR PRE-TEENS AND TEENS For my 12th birthday party, I decided to have a spa party with three of my best friends at a local day spa. It is important to keep the invitation list at a minimal for this type of party, and there will be less clean-up, less expense, and lots more fun. INVITATIONS: For my invitations I made ones out of heavy cardstock paper. I pasted a tiny die-cut birthday cake to each one and had "You're Invited ..." on the cover. On the inside of the invitation I had all of the information listed. Send your invitations in the mail or use the informal telephone-call invitation if not everyone in your class is invited to avoid hurt feelings. Remember, the smaller the invitation list, the easier this party can be hosted. ACTIVITIES: I had contacted the local fitness center and day spa and made special arrangements for a birthday party. Their rate was $15/person for a 45-minute service of mini-manicures, hand massages with parrafin treatments, polish, nail gems, refreshments, and 2 estheticians. An area was available for cake and food, which was served after the treatments. I had also decided that to increase the length of the party (which would only have been around 1hr) I decided to have a mall hunt, and everyone was decided into partners. Each partner had a disposable camera, a list, a calculator, and $5. They had an hour to complete the most they could on the list, which included, but was not limited to: find an employment application from any store, have pictures taken at the photo booth, find the name of the manager for (specific store), etc. We met at the food court after and had floats in the coffeehouse. FOOD: For food, we decided to serve healthy, spa-type cuisine, such as fruit and vegetables, apple cider, iced tea, and carbonated flavoured water in wine glasses, petit fours, birthday cake, mini-cheesecakes, and tiny sandwiches. COST: Spa treatments: $60, mall hunt supplies (disposable cameras): $15, food: $25. Total: $100. (Note: the food cost may be more or less depending on the amount of guests and if you do not have the invitation supplies, they may have to be added to the total cost). Hope you like my idea! :)
