3yr.- Buzz Lightyear Party -- In July it was my son's 3rd birthday. He requested a Buzz Lightyear theme. We chose to do the Buzz Lightyear Cartoon theme.
We invited ages ranging from 2 to 6 years old. I had a total of 16 children come. I made my own invitation. I copied all the clip art from the official Buzz Lightyear Star Command wedsite. The card read, " Calling all Space Rangers. This is Star Command. Buzz Lightyear and Space Ranger George are in need of your help. MISSION: Come join team lightyear track-down Zurg to Infinity and Beyond and defeat his nefarious plan to end all birthdays. On the inside of the invitation I put the typical information for a party but with a twist. Instead of date I wrote Star Date. I also named the meeting place Star Command. The party was from 2:00 to 4:30. I also told the guests to come for snacks, cake, ice pops and sprinkler fun and at the end of the invitation I told the guests not to forget their Space Ranger Suits (Bathing Suits). Entertainment & Games: I found a local website and hired Buzz Lightyear to come to the party for an hour. I made a pin the LGM on the Planet to protect the Unimind game with black 18"x24" card stock and gel FX markers, pencils, crayons and glitter glue. The LGMs I traced from a picture on to bright green card stock, colored them and put them through a sticker machine. It was a variation of the old pin the tale on the donkey game. Each child was handed a LGM by Buzz Lightyear. I enlarged two 8 ½" x 11" Zurg coloring pages to 18" x 24" and hung them up at the swing set so the children could launch Buzz Lightyear whistling rockets (from DisneyStore.com) and nerf stamp rockets (from Toy R Us.com) at the posters. Buzz Lightyear took Polaroid photos with each child after they completed the game at the swing set and he presented them with a winner medal for defeating Zurg at the swing set. Buzz Lightyear sung Happy Birthday with all the children had cake and Ice pops. After Buzz Lightyear left we then opened up 3 sprinklers for the kids to run around. I found a Buzz Lightyear sprinkler (from the Disney Store.com Website) and a Rocket sprinkler (from the ToysRus.com website). We played follow the leader through the asteroid shower through the Buzz sprinkler and catch a rocket through the other. After the children got done being wet. We hung the piñata in the shape of a rocket at the swing set. In the piñata I made individual bags with Buzz Lightyear fruit snacks some candy and Buzz Lightyear stickers. I used just ordinary plastic Ziploc sandwich bags with some Buzz stickers stuck on them. At the end of the party I presented each child with a hand-made goody bag. I took black medium size gift bags with a mat finish and colored rockets, planets and stars from a stencil with the gel FX pencils. In each bag was a hand-made 9 page coloring book from coloring pages I got from the Disney Website and two mazes from the Internet and one color by letter ABC rocket each fasten with iridescent curling ribbon and metal fasteners. Also inside was Buzz Lightyear blowers, glow-in-the-dark celestial pinwheels, glow-in-the-dark kaleidoscopes and star sunglasses bought from Oriental Trading company website. It was a great day and fun for all. If it rained that day my backup plan was going to be to do a rocket magnet craft instead. Using red, black, white and yellow foam sheets and gold sequins. Remember, "everyone needs backup".
