Space- My four-year wanted a space party that did not have "aliens". I called NASA and ordered posters for decorations. Balloons and streamers were red, white and blue.  We played games like the "moon walk" races (which was cut out yellow moons and they stepped on one and moved the other with their hands and stepped, etc.) "pin the flame on the rocket ship" (played like pin the tail on the donkey).  I made "space" by taping rolls of black plastic to form a large enclosed area.  There was an opening on one end for a fan that when turned on would inflate the tent and another opening that the little astronauts had to crawl into.  Inside I hung white Christmas lights and glow in the dark stars.  It was large enough that 10-12 kids and adults could walk around in.  I cut the handles out of milk jugs to form a helmet and spray painted them silver for each child to have a space helmet. I also took two 2-liter bottles, taped them together, painted silver and attached string for each child to have an air tank.  The kids really loved to dress up for the party also. Each child took them home when the party was over. For the birthday boy and myself we made astronaut suits (White coveralls purchased from home improvement store). I printed and ironed on NASA logos to look official.  Prizes for the games were, "Starburst", "Milky Way", "Moon Pies", and "Pop Rock Candy".  We also gave away the NASA posters of real astronauts.  We served lunch to all the guests (sandwiches and chips) The cake was a space ship.   Centerpieces were rocket ships made from construction paper along with star confetti. The children had a great time and my son will always remember his "space party".
