For my son's 10th birthday party we did a Spiderman theme.
I sent out Spiderman' invitations, used Spiderman's table wear. I used blue table covers. I ordered a small roud cake with a spiderman image on it. Then I made two larger cakes and place the small cake on top. I then took black icing and piped "spider webs" all over it, also adding plastic spiders on it. I then made a Spiderman paper mache piniata. I took a balloon blew it up about medium. Covered it with red and blue tissue paper to look like Spiderman's head, incorporating a small rope around the head to hang. It turned out very well. I fill it up with candy. I then took a quite larger balloon and covered it with black tissue paper, making it look like a spider. I carefully cut a slit in the top of the spider and placed Spiderman's head into it the spider, leaving the rope to hang out the top. I then filled the spider with plastic spiders. Then I glued the top closed. The ideal was that when the children break through the spider, the plastic spiders would fall and then they would have to break Spiderman's head to get the candy. It worked out great. They were shocked when they broke thru the spider and only spiders came out. But love it more when they had to continue hitting for the candy from the head. We also had redpop and blue pepsi to drink and pizza. Played pin the spider on Spiderman. We played a yarn game. Using yarn, make about a golf ball size of yarn rolled up. Have each child stand in a circle, giving each one a ball of yarn. Telling them to tie one end around their waist, then take turns throwing the balls to the player in front of them. When they catch the ball wrap around their waist then throw to another player. Makeing sure they don't get the yarn around their neck. Adult supervision for this game. It works well and they all end up tangled up like a web, they loved this game. We also purchased string in the can, which we did outside. For the goodie bags I filled them with spiders and candy. The party was a success. I was particularly proud of my pinata.
