We had a "Spider-Man" birthday party for my 5 year old. We held the party at my local park, which has a covered pavillion, jungle jim, ball field, etc.. As the children
arrived, we had them play on the jungle jim, and also brought baseball equipment so they could play at their leisure.
When all the children arrived (24), we set them up at the picnic tables with crayons, markers, glitter glue, feathers, spider-man and other assorted stickers--all types of decorating supplies. Prior to the party, I cut out masks using oaktag in blue and red. then i used a hole puncher and ran blue yarn through the holes. The kids each got to decorate their own spider-man mask!! they loved this!! it actually took up a lot of time. as they finished, they put the mask on( it covered only their eyes, and i used my son for the measurement). they loved playing in the mask, eating in the mask, etc.. and it made for some really cute pictures. i made cupcakes for each of the children. Then i added red and blue food coloring to vanilla icing, and gave each child a scoop of each color. I gave each child a spoon, and placed m&m's, gummie bears, choc chips, sprinkles, licorice, etc. on the tables. the kids loved decorating their own cupcakes. We had a spider-man pinyata (which i filled with candy only---no toys, since i put those in the spidey goodie bags and have been to parties where kids got very upset because they didn;t get a little toy from the pinyata). We finished the party by hiring Spider-Man to appear. He put on a magic show, gave out spider-man tattoo's, etc. The party was a huge success!!
