Invitations: The theme of my party was girls against boys so I bought red invitations for the girls and blue for the boys.
The invitations gave the usual info a long with what to bring. My birthday was in June so a water gun, change of clothes and towels were on the list. At the bottom of the invitation was a password that they needed to enter the party. Entrance: One of my aunts pretended to be a bouncer and asked all the kids the password and their name to see if it was on the v.i.p. list. A picture was taken at the door then they were let inside for the real fun. Games: I decided to do something both boys and girls would enjoy. I hired a special video games expert who had brought several game systems and new games that hadn't been released in stores yet. For the first 30 minutes of the party the guests enjoyed playing Nintendo wii, Xbox 360, play station 3, Nintendo DSI, light conversations and tons of snacks. Food and Decorations: Since the theme of my birthday was competition everything including the food, decorations, and loot bags were decorated in blue and red. The food was served buffet style and the guests enjoyed cupcakes with flags in them that had little sayings printed on such as Girls rule, you're going down, and Have Fun! Blue and Red freezies were also served. We also had a bartender (my uncle) who did custom made smoothies, milkshakes, and drink combinations. Games: After the video games were done we headed outside and had a water gun /water balloon fight for about 15 minutes. While everyone dried off and changed my mother and I set up several games in the backyard. My uncle was a DJ so he provided music which was great for the games. We played musical chairs, lawn bowling, drip drip drop (duck duck goose with water), over and under and much more. All the games that were played were worth points which were exchangeable for prizes at the end of the party like clothes, clearance items, lip gloss, chocolate. Food: My mom cooked BBQ chicken, burgers, hot dogs and corn on the cob which we all ate outside. Loot bags: During the party we took pictures with a Polaroid camera which we added to the lootbags. The boys were given thermoses with candy, toys and prizes inside, and the girls were given purses with the same items in them. Overall everyone enjoyed the party and are still talking about.
