For my son Luke's 3rd birthday I am planning a MUD party (My U're Dirty!). Like most toddlers, he absolutely LOVES to splash in mud puddles and water and get all around messy! One
day I let he and my 4 year old out in the rain and they had a blast splashing in the mud puddles and the pictures I took were great so I thought we should do that for his birthday! So,
here's what I plan to do: Invitations: will be brown card stock cut to look like a mud puddle with the words "Luke is turning 3 and it's time to get down and DIRTY at his M.U.D. party
(My U're Dirty!)" on the front and on the back include the specifics.
"Kids love it, parents cringe at it but now it's time to REVEL IN IT...MUD! Yes, you read it right. Wear MUD friendly clothes & boots and bring an extra clean pair for the ride home. (Feel free to also bring any toys to play with in the mud and bring a camera for this once in a childhood photo opp!)Muchies, Mahem and plenty of Messy, Muddy Fun will be enjoyed by all! Hope to see you there!" Games: We plan to get a small load of topsoil & water it down in our front yard which is not landscaped and perfect for the kids to play in the mud. Some other games will be a mud pie toss at a target painted on some plywood, a Mud hunt looking for toy treasures or coins in a small turtle sandbox filled with mud, musical mud puddles (instead of chairs) and mud art using mud with paint mixed in and flyswatters on either a butcher paper covered surface/driveway or piece of plywood. Another game that might work for older kids would be to make prints/impressions of different items in the mud and let it dry and the kids have to match them up. Winners of games get to throw a "mud pie" (choc whip creme in pie tin) at Daddy's face! Food: Chocolate milk, Nutella sandwiches, red grapes and for dessert...MUD pie (or dirt cake in a dump truck with a shovel to serve) Party gifts: A bucket & shovel for each child with their name in stickers on it and a bag of "clean mud" with recipe. A speaker at our MOPS group shared this which is basically 3 rolls of shredded toilet paper in a large container, one bar of grated Ivory soap, 3/4 cup of Borax. Cover with water, mix & PLAY! It apparently will last a very loooong time! Her kids would play with it in the bathtub (drain plug in or it will plug the drain!!). Thank You's: Send mud puddle frame made from brown foamie material with picture of the kids playing at the party. Well, this is my idea. I know it will be a great party. I hope this gives another Mom of a precotious puddle jumper ideas!
