Survive the Outback  My twin sons were Turing 8 years old and they love the Survivor Show on CBS.  They wanted a Survivor Birthday Party.  So I Created invitations on the computer that said ,"Can You Survive The Johnston Outback"  with a Crocodile underneath.  Inside I put You are invited to a Survivor birthday party.  I put the who what when where and RSVP as usual, and on the opposite page was a picture of three tribal drums around a fire with the words, OUTWIT, OUTLAST, OUTPLAY above the picture. They turned out real neat. We decorated our yard with the torches. Tribal mask pictures, a Tribal mask piņata, paper lanterns, Brown Raffia and paper bags were the table cloths for the picnic tables. We selected an area beside our shed for Tribal council. We had logs set up in a Semi circle with a fake fire made of sticks, rocks and orange paper. I had a small table with a container painted like a tribal mask for the voting out. We didn't actually vote anyone off but each child had a different color head band. We put the matching colors in the container and at the councils we would pull one color out of the container. That child had to remove his/her band and hang it on the side of the shed. They could still participate in the games but they just couldn't win immunity.  We made an immunity necklace out of rawhide, beads, feathers and seashells.  The first game we did was an eating challenge. The kids lined up around a table and had their hand tied behind their backs with the headbands mentioned before.  They each got a piece of cream pie. Whoever finished first won immunity.  We went to tribal council and they each got a towel to clean up with while one was voted off.  Then we did a boomerang toss with plastic boomerang.  The one thrown the farthest won immunity. Back to tribal council repeat voting process. Then it was a rooster Fight where the kids had to squat inside a circle that was marked off and grab their ankles.  The object of the game was to try and knock people down or out of the circle using only your backs or shoulders. They loved this. Repeat immunity and tribal council process. This time the kids stayed at tribal council while the Twins opened their presents.   Then we did a scavenger hunt race. Whoever collected the items first won immunity.  But each child received a goody bag (filled with tattoos, gum, pencils, mini pocket kites, Tribal mask Bubble necklaces, and a Boomerang) when they brought in their items.  Then we had a cake decorated with the Survivor emblem.  Homemade banana ice cream, A watermelon carved in a basket shape with pineapple, cantaloupe, and watermelon balls, and A Jell-O mold shaped like a Tribal Mask.  The kids drank Lemonade out of little plastic coconut shaped cups with straws that had a mini tribal mask on them. I just used green plates and napkins.  After we ate, we sat around the tribal council and hand out the bags for the piņata.  Then the winner of the scavenger hunt got to go first. Followed by the birthday boys then smallest to biggest. When it was all over the boys said it was their best birthday ever.
