My twin sons were having their first birthday and I wanted it to me special. My husband and I, and their godparents are big sports fans so we went with a sports theme. On the invitation, everyone was asked to wear their favorite sports clothes and they did. Almost everyone wore Miami Heat jerseys or t-shirts including my sons. One of them was Dawayne Wade and the other was Shaq. We had a sports bounce house withfour different sports on it. We also had mini basketball goals setup as part of the decorations.  There was also a football goal post for the kids to play with. It was close to Easter so we have an egg hunt with sports ball shaped plastic eggs. We also had many different sports balls both big and small including inflatable ones for the kids to play with.  It was fun to see all the kids and parents dressed for the party in the theme.  The cake had all the different sports rings in it and the kids got to take one. We could not get Burnie the Heat mascot for the party so we had Elmo.  The kids got to take pictues with him and received the picture with their thank you notes. The party also included sports hand bands instead of birthday hats.  At the end of the party, each child received a waterbottle shaped like either a basketball, soccer, football, or baseball and a treat bag with sports pencils, sports airplanes, sports bubbles, sports chocolates, and sports note pads. My friends are still competing to see which one can top that party!
