We just finished a Jedi Training Academy Party for our 5 year old son!
Invitations: A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away Episode V THE BIRTHDAY PARTY A young boy, son's name, was born to his destiny. This Jedi Knight will celebrate his 5th birthday. You are invited to join him in a Jedi Training Academy to see if you have what it takes to become a Jedi master. The Jedi Knight Son's name The Galaxy Address The Light Year Date of Party The Time Time of Party Decorations: We decorated the front door with a Jedi Training Academy sign, then the house with streamers in blue and green (Jedi light saber colors), balloons and posters of Star Wars. Costumes: I purchased a 45 inch wide bolt of natural unbleached muslin and a yard and a half of chocolate brown fleece. Since the boys and girls were all 5 and 4 year olds, I cut the muslin widthwise at about 16 inch strips with pinking shears. Then folded them in half and cut out a v-shaped neck hole. The kids put them on over their heads and tied a brown fleece belt around their middle to be dressed as Jedi's! We borrowed plenty of light sabers from our neighbors for each child to use one at the party! We were ready to go! Games: We played Star Wars Bingo". I made a bingo card on Word using a 4x4 table. I cut and pasted different pictures from Star Wars (Darth Vader Jango Fett R2D2 Obi Wan Darth Maul's light saber etc.) in various places on each card on the computer and then printed them out. Next we played "Pin the Light Saber on Yoda". I found a good picture of Yoda on the web and cut and pasted it into Paint on the computer. I "cut out" the light saber from his hands and deleted it then cut and pasted the new Yoda picture in Word. I then also found a picture of a green light saber (Yoda's) and in a different Word doc cut and pasted it 10 times so each kid would have one. So fun! We had a Jedi Obstacle Course in our basement (because it was rainy outside). The kids each did it 2 times and we timed them and wrote it on a sheet taped to the wall so they could each see their times! Then our family had earlier made a homemade "Death Star" Pinata! We used a brown grocery bag and decorated it with a printout of the Death Star on both sides and red streamers. Then we had the kids each take turns hitting it with a light saber! Once it was broken we had the kids pick it all up and we divided it between all their goodie bags. The kids also played Use the Force Balloons seeing how many times they could hit them in the air without them dropping while we were getting the cake ready! The Cake: We had a normal 9x13 cake decorated with Happy 5th Birthday (Son's Name) and 2 light sabers going across it in icing black for the handle and blue and green for the light saber! Served with ice cream of course! Favors: The kids took home their Jedi costumes (as it's right near Halloween) and their goodie bags full of Pinata candy! A great day fun times and great pictures of the kids dressed as Jedi! "
