I took many of the ideas off of this terrific website!
Thank you to all the parents out there! The party was today and we started planning about one month ago but it was so worth all of the hard work, the kids absolutely loved this party! INVITATION: we used text from another entry, with text right from star wars. We used a graphics program and had images of Luke Skywalker, Yoda, and Darth Vader. We said to R.S.V.P. to Darth Vader, and that the party would take place at the command post. We made brown felt Jedi 'smoks' for the boys and tied at the waist with cotton rope from the fabric store ($25.00 total). ACTIVITIES: When they arrived, they were dressed for jedi training" and given their "Jedi Missions Cheklist" that they had to accomplish if they wanted to become a Jedi. Here were the items and as such also provided them with an itinerary of the party: 1. Galactic Craft (decorate black picture frame) 2. Darth Vader Training 3. Balloon Balance 4. Teamwork Challenge 5. Battle with Darth Vader 6. Pumpkin Crater Crash 7. Food and Cake. My husband purchased a Darth Vader costumer. Once the boys finished their frames with letters galaxy stickers they all lined up to go outside. Once outside I played Star WArs music and Darth Vader arrived coming down the slide out of our backyard clubhouse. The boys went wild! He greeted each one individually then handed them their foam lightsabers (made from pool noodles). He trained them on how to use lightsabers appropriately. THey jumped in the leaves and practised. We brought out the balloons and they had to keep them in the air. (the balloons popped however due to the cool temperature outside :(. The teamwork challenge was the best. Out of long wood beams and milk crates they worked together to create a 'bridge' to the clubhouse. Once complete they had to cross to the other side all the while trying to fend off Darth Vader. iF they fell off into the Lava (grass) then they had to try again. Darth gave them each two tries. They went crazy for this activity and they helped each other up into the clubhouse this was hilarious!!! Then Darth handed them silly string cans and they screamed with joy for this one. I brought out Yoda Soda at this point for them to drink (coolaid with green food colouring). They loved this drink and kept asking for more! The pumpkin crater crash was actually a pinhata. They each got two hits and it was a success! Their star wars bags were pre-labelled for them to put their candy in. I tried to give them a sticker for each mission accomplished. THey really liked have the checklist attached to the rope belts. This all took 1.5 hours to finish. By this time they were hungry. We served them burgers and fries and then cake. They went home with their smock checklist pinhata candy and glow stick each as well as their decorated picture them. They each took a picture individually with Darth Vader and this will be given to them as a Thank YOu card to put in their picture frames. The boys said things like "This is so much more fun than I expected" and "This was the best birthday party ever!". COSTUMES: I dressed in a white long smock as did my 4 year old daughter who loved being Princess Leia and was so fiesty throughout. We made brown felt smoks for the boys that they loved. DECORATIONS: we used black streamers with black and blue balloons. All Star WArs tableware we found at Walmart. CAKE: We just got the bakery to make a 1/4 slab white icing cake with black icing piping and letters. On top we just put Star Wars action figures and 6 tall silver candles which my son LOVEd to play with! It was a terrific party and I so greatly appreciate all of the ideas on this website! Thank goodness the weather was perfect because this party had to be done outside. 6 boys with lightsabers is just WILD so beware!! "
