Our Star Wars party was for my 4 yr. old son, but we had 16 children ages 2-8 attending, and they all had a blast. The party took about 2 1/2 hours, pizza, cake, bouncy castle, pinata, & presents included. Our games went in order like this.  FIRST: I started with "Make Your Own Lightsabers" which consisted of foam pipe covering (or you could use pool noodles) and colored duct tape. I only covered about 6-8 inches of one end of each foam, and the kids chose between black, green, red, and blue tape. I also used a sharpie to label each childs saber so there wouldn't be any confusion. They played all party with these and liked to beat on a few brave dads!  SECOND: We played "Keep Up the Meteor", using our sabers and balloons. I did this 2-3 times, letting the winners choose a prize.  THIRD: We played "Musical Star Wars Chairs". This I started ahead of time, by printing out 2 sets of 16 different SW characters, one large set, one small. Playing some SW music, I taped the large set of pictures onto 16 seats, so everyone had a place to sit. When the music stopped, I reached into a bag with the small set of pictures and called out that name. The child in that seat got to choose a prize. I did this 4-5 times.  FOURTH: We played "Destroy the Death Star", a spin on 'pin the tail on the donkey'. This I started ahead of time as well, printing out 16 small pitures of Luke's X-Wing and one very large picture of the Death Star. (For that, I used Microsoft Publisher, clicked 'blank publications', 'poster', and inserted my death star picture, checking the print preview to center it onto 4 pages so I didn't waste ink. Then I glued it onto cardboard to make it sturdier.) I wrote each child's name onto each x-wing, and the one closest to the 'eye' of the star won a prize.  FIFTH: We did a "Jedi Obstacle Course". Ahead of time I cut out cardboard shapes and covered them with tin foil, these were meteors. For the course, I used every day things, such as winding your way through chairs (with a dad hiding behind one, ready to battle), under the table, through hula-hoops (parents held them), hop across the floor only stepping on the pre-made meteors, under a limbo stick, through a collapsible tunnel, and had my husband in the Darth Vader voice changer helmet to battle the kids. The kids totally won!   SIXTH: I presented the children with "Honorary Jedi Knight" certificates at the end of the party. This was a lot of fun to design, you can email me at bridriz04@yahoo.com for my design. On it, I included the SW logo, dated it, and made it sound official by using 'certficate lingo'. On the very bottom, I had 3 pictures, Yoda, my son, and Darth Vader. I signed Yodas name, my son signed his, and my hubby signed Vaders.  IN BETWEEN GAMES: We played SW music, I printed out some SW pictures and had crayons/markers available, and had a SW game ready for the 2 yr olds. This was very simple, I balled up tin foil and hid them so they could "Find the Meteors".  EXTRA: I also had a SW cake, and ordered a SW themed party kit to include the gift boxes, a SW pinata, and tableware sets. I added SW pencils and lightsaber pens to each box. If I hadn't forgotten to plan the games a week before the party (I procrastinate), I would have made my own SW themed food/drink, such as green Yoda juice, or a make your own english muffin pizzas... pepperoni as meteors, peppers as green lightsabers, etc. Naturally, the children had an exciting and fun time! They still have their homemade lightsabers, and bring them when they play at anothers house, a month later! I thoroughly enjoyed planning this party and I hope next year will be as much fun.
