Star Wars party for 7 year old boy. This year I auctioned off a birthday party and the lucky winner was a 6 year old Star Wars fan.
His mom didn't want the focus to be on Darth Vader, so I came up with a Jedi birthday party. The party was in Sept., so it was held outside. When the guests arrived I had the Star Wars soundtrack playing and handed them their outfit for the day. A brown "vests" with a cream colored sash (purchased brown fabric at fabric store and cut out V's for the necks, so no sewing was involved). When they were properly attired (or not as some opted to not wear the outfit) they made they pod-racer so they could get from activity to activity. I had purchased boxes from the UPS store and had crayons, stickers, glitter and glue for them to decorate their "pod-racers" with. Right before we were ready to zoom into the backyard where the rest of the party was set up I gave them all their goggles (safety goggles purchased at the Dollar Store). They raced around in their pod-racers for a while and then had X-wing flying practice. I hung hula-hoops from the play structure at different heights and distances and gave them all a frisbee to practice flying thru the hoops. I think their favorite activity was next - we made lightsabers out of pool noodles (also bought at the Dollar Store, and cut in 1/2). We put black and silver duct tape to make the handles and then had out lightsaber agility practice. Before the party I had blown up a bunch of balloons and put them in big garbage bags. I climbed to the top of their play structure and open the bags and the balloons came flying out. Since the lightsabers were made from pool noodles it didn't hurt if they hit each other while trying to hit the balloons. Then they popped all the balloons, which they thought was fun as well. The grand finale before the cake was Defeating the Death Star (a baseball pinata spray painted black). All the kids took a hit with one of my son's lightsabers that lights up and makes sounds, and then switched to the baseball bat to finally break it apart. The cake was a store bought Star Wars cake with a Yoda figurine on top. Besides taking home their costumes, pod-racers, goggles, frisbee x-wings, and pool noodle lightsabers, they also got a goody bag with Starburts, Star Wars stickers, glow in the dark star stickers, a glow stick, mini lightsabers from Oriental Trading Co., and a planet pencil. It was a very fun party, and the mom told me she would bid on my party at next years auction!
