Kids Birthday
Party Supplies

My 6 year old loves Star Wars!!! His birthday falls just weeks after Christmas so we had to stay on a budget of $150. Because of time I used Star Wars invites from our party store. I decorated the room with black streamer and silver stars. I used black tablecloths on all the tables with silver star confetti. We found balloon weights at the dollar stare that were shiny silver with fringy threads on top and he thought they looked like volcano's so we used them to hold down bunches of red, silver and black balloons.  As the kids arrived we gave each kid a name tag with a number in the corner.  We had 16 or so kids from his class so it made it easier durin the games not to call everyone "hey you!" The first thing we did was play "hot lava," our variation of hot potato.  We used two bean bags covered in red shiny fabric.  I found using two bean bags the best because the kids really seemed to feel better about getting knocked out if they did so in pairs. We played the Star Wars soundtrack (which we got from the library). As the kids got knocked out we had Star Wars coloring pages I printed off of the internet and crayons.  When we got down to the final two we called it a tie and gave both prizes. After the game the pizza was here so everyone sat down and ate.  That gave us about 6 1/2 minute of calm.... As the kids were finished I was sitting down with a sponge and some Star Wars tattoos I found on eBay. They loved getting to pick out a tattoo and getting it on right then. We changed the pin the ___ on the ____ game to fit the theme. I bought a piece of black foam board clearanced out after Halloween and printed out a picture of the Death Star of the internet. I glued it on then filled around with stars with a silver Sharpie. I drew an outline of the spaceship on the corner of the Death Star and printed out about 20 little pictures of the Millenium Falcon (also off the internet).  After cutting them out I numbered them and put double sided tape on the back.  That's where the #'s on the name tags come in handy. You match the spaceships #'s with the kid's tag and that way when the game's over you can remember who was the spaceship that got the closest. Then we did the pinata.  I found a really cool Darth Vader one at Toys R Us. It was the kind with strings you pull and one will bust it open.  I didn't feel great about the idea of a bat or stick swinging around such a small room.  I let the kids have their goodie bags to put candy in and their name tags helped keep track of whose bag was whose.  We had a Star Wars cake from the local grocery store.  We played "Yoda says" (Simon says). We had another game planned but ran out of time.  "Mr. Skeleton where's your bone" is a game the kids played at their school Halloween party.  I changed it to fit the theme by calling it "Use the Force". One kid sits in a chair with his back to the group sitting on the floor. There is an asteroid (silver painted rock) that one of the kids gets to hide in his cupped hands.  All the kids have to pretend to have it and the kid in the chair gets 3 guesses to figure out who's got it.  Whoever had the asteroid gets to be it next. when the party was all over we let the kids take a balloon and tied it to their goodie bags.  I bought Star Wars goodie bags at Walmart and filled it with Star Wars stickers, Alien fruit roll ups, Star Wars M&M's, spaceship pencils, pop rocks and a few other goodies.  All the kids told me that it was the coolest party.  My son says that it is the best birthday he's ever had. Disregarding the fact that he's only had 5 other parties to compare it to...I was very proud of all the hard work I put into it.
