My son decided he wanted a Lego Star Wars party this year. Little did I know that there is no licensed party supplies for Lego Star wars, Lego's yes, star wars yes, but not combined, so I had to get a little creative.   Invitations: I made the invitations on the computer, black background with silver stars. Using pictures found on the internet I put the Lego figures on top outlined in Red, with ATTENTION JEDI KNIGHTS also in red underneath. The invitation read in white 5 years ago in a galaxy not so far away, a baby boy was born. His name is _ and he is strong with the force. You have been chosen to join _. If you are up to the challenge, join us at In big bold yellows letters _ 5th BIRTHDAY PARTY. Then the date, time, location and RSVP to the Jedi Council at phone number. On each side of the party info was another screen shot of the Lego characters (Luke and Obi Won) from the game. Decorations: A 6 ft tall Darth Maul at the front door greeted our guests as they arrived, a star wars table cloth. I made plates with Lego Star Wars characters on them, printed pictures cut to fit the bottom covered in contact paper then glued to plain black plates, yellow cups had the Lego Star Wars logo put on them by using the computer and clear labels. Costumes: Upon arrival each kid was given a Jedi tunic that was sewn out of beige muslin and tied at the waist with a thin rope (I used my sons karate gi as a guide), and a foam light saber (pool noodle cut in half and decorated with black and silver duct tape) Activities: Each kid got to decorate their own goodie bags, with foam galaxy shapes. I had bought black goodie bags and wrote their names with a silver pen. Then there was a light saber war as we awaited the main event. A TIE fighter pilot and a Tusken Raider walked in to the Star Wars theme song. This was a huge hit, their members of the 501st (a group that dresses as star wars villains in exchange for a donation to a charity in their name). Pictures were taken and each kid got to take pictures wearing a storm trooper helmet. Games: The 501st played Hot Thermal Detonator (Hot Potato) with the kids, while those that were scared (the guests ages varied from 2-11) played Destroy the death star (pin the tail) in the other room. Also being a Lego party too there was an area where the kids could build, and rebuild whatever they liked.  All the kids played with their light sabers, fighting off the bad guys (daddy and his friends) Party Snacks: The party was from 2-4, after lunch and before dinner so we just had chips and pretzels with Lemonade and clear cherry Kool-Aid. In each drink there was Lego figure ice cube that I made using a popsicle mold. Cake: I made a cake out of cupcakes. I lined up 24 cupcakes into a rectangle and had 7 cupcakes coming out the top on each side.  I frosted the whole thing in chocolate frosting, and then piped the star wars logo on the rectangle part of the cake. Then piped out 2 light sabers on the cupcakes coming out the top, 1 blue, 1 green, with white and black bases. I also had made a jedi and a storm trooper out of fondant that were placed on either side of the logo. Favors: In the goodie bags each kid received a variety of asteroids (prizes wrapped in foil), a star wars pez dispenser, Star Wars temp tattoos. They were also handed goodie bags by the 501st which had candy and temp tattoos. Each kid also took home their light saber and tunics. The majority of our guest (15 kids) were between 4 and 5 with a few older and a few younger, the adults also were getting into the fun and dressing in the helmets and fighting with the light sabers, thankfully I had made enough extra knowing that this would be the case. Everyone had a great time, even those that were scared of the villains eventually warmed up. Everyone left with a smile and still wearing their jedi costumes.
